One of Red Hat and Infinidat’s joint customers, a multi-billion-dollar insurance company in EMEA, recently experienced a data center outage when an explosion nearby took their primary data center offline. Due to Infinidat’s active-active replication capability, this customer’s environment never went down but everything seamlessly continued operating.

This same customer is also a heavy user of OpenShift and is evaluating OpenShift Virtualization. They had already been asking Infinidat, a Red Hat Certified Ecosystem Partner, to support active-active replication for OpenShift via the CSI Driver, which was released in late July 2025 as part of version 2.22.0. This enhancement is very important for container customers because it extends the existing InfiniBox® volume level replication to volumes on containers.

The Red Hat and Infinidat teams are now talking to our mutual enterprise customers about this capability, which we believe will accelerate mission-critical application and virtualization adoption on OpenShift for our customers. We will also test this with OpenShift Virtualization and quantify any benefits there in the future.
