Glenn Jamison - NASA

In March 2024, Glenn Jamison was selected as the permanent Director, Research Services Directorate (RSD) and Chief of Flight Operations at NASA Langley Research Center. Glenn served as the Director as a time limited SES for 1 year, while Shane Dover (former RSD Director 2018-2021) took on the Director, Aviation Capability Management Office in MSD. Glenn has been a tremendous addition to the Center Leadership Council and I look forward to seeing him continue to lead this team. As Director of RSD, Glenn plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of four technically organized branches and three product lines that conduct flight and simulation research and development over a broad range of space, aeronautical, science, and laboratory disciplines that align with national and Agency goals.

Glenn joined NASA as a research test pilot and aerospace engineer following a 30-year career in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Captain.  As a research pilot, he has worked on several projects for the Agency including Scanning L-band Active Passive, the Aerosol Cloud meTeorology Interactions oVer the western ATlantic Experiment, P-3 Orion Pylon Development, the Spacecraft Handling Qualities Experiment, Navigation Doppler Lidar, Optical Precision Autonomous Landing, and the Sub-Mesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment.

During his military career, Glenn served as a developmental test pilot and technical consultant for the C‑2A, E-2C, F-14B/D, F-35 JSF, S-3B, and T-6A aircraft.  Additional shore assignments included Deputy Command Director at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station and Executive Assistant to the Director, Air Warfare on the Chief of Naval Operations pentagon staff.  At sea, he commanded Airborne Command and Control Squadron 113, the USS New Orleans (LPD 18), and the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73).

A native of Maine, Glenn graduated from Duke University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering.  He graduated with distinction from the Naval War College with a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.  He is also a graduate of the United States Navy Test Pilot School, the Joint Forces Staff College, Navy Nuclear Power School, and earned a master’s degree in Aviation Systems Engineering from the University of Tennessee Space Institute.

Glenn is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and has over 4,700 flight hours and 600 carrier landings in 52 different aircraft types.  He is a recipient of the Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award, and his honors include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and various other medals, unit, and campaign awards.
