If you've been dreaming about having your own personal supply of nugget ice, your time is here - the viral GE Opal nugget ice maker is on sale for Prime Day, back down to the lowest price it's been since Black Friday, at 29% off. I've had one of my own for several years, and it's easily one of my favorite smart home purchases. This is one of the lowest prices I've ever seen, so if you're on the fence, there's never been a better time to act.

GE has since released a newer version, 2.0, but the original remains plenty capable. It's a sleek countertop device that produces up to 33 pounds of ice per day, featuring innovative capabilities that allow you to set a schedule or turn it on at any time, as well as receive alerts when it needs cleaning. And not that you need this ability, but you can connect it to Alexa, so a simple, "Alexa, make ice," will start the process. Once you turn on the machine, the first nuggets hit the tray about 15 minutes later.

One of the best features of this specific model is the optional side tank, which significantly increases your water capacity.

Review: GE Opal nugget ice maker

This ice maker was originally $600 when I purchased it, but since a newer version has been released, the price has dropped even further. There are other options from other brands that are more affordable, but this is a fantastic opportunity to get the top-of-the-line pick. It's been a reliable appliance, getting used literally every day for several years now.

In addition to this ice maker, here's a look at the rest of the best Black Friday deals from Walmart.

How I rated this deal

Based on the more than $150 off savings being offered, ZDNET's rating system gives this a 3/5 Editor's deal rating. The GE Opal Nugget Ice Maker is the best ice maker available, and it's at one of the lowest prices ever. I already have one, but if I didn't yet, this is an opportunity I wouldn't miss.

Deals like this fluctuate often, so there's no way to know for sure when this deal will expire. If the price does change, there's a good chance this ice maker will be on sale from another retailer in a few days.
