Python 2.7.6 release candidate 1 was released on October 26, 2013. This is a 2.7 series bugfix release. Most importantly, it resolves an issue that caused the interactive prompt to crash on OS X 10.9. It also includes numerous bugfixes over 2.7.5.
As of Python 2.7.6, the python.org Mac OS X 64-bit/32-bit x86-64/i386 Installer for OS X 10.6+ now includes its own builtin version of Tcl/Tk 8.5. It is no longer necessary to install a third-party version of Tcl/Tk 8.5 to workaround the problematic system versions. See herefor more information
