A Boston mother snapped at a reporter and accused him of twisting her words after her son was charged with taking part in an illegal street takeover.
The unidentified mom said: 'He wasn't there,' when grilled Wednesday by 7News reporter Steve Cooper about her son's antics during last October's chaos in Randolph, Massachusetts.
But the son - who was swaggering a few feet behind the mom and smirking - had just admitted to Cooper that he was there, while denying the crime he has been charged with.
Confronted with her son's words, the mom - who wore tight blue jeans and a tight black sweater - grew defensive and changed her story.
Speaking in a broad Boston accent, she said: 'He was passing through. Isn't that what he just said?'
Growing more aggressive, the mother added: 'Let's not flip the words.' Her son could be heard cackling behind her.
Wednesday's hearing at Quincy District Court saw some of the 17 people charged in the October 2025 street takeover appear before a judge.
Chaos unfolded after more than 100 people swarmed North Main and Oak Street in Randolph as drivers performed dangerous stunts amid the busy traffic, police said.
Dramatic video taken from the dashboard of a police cruiser showed the responding officers being overwhelmed by hooligans who jumped on their hood and aggressively slammed their windshield.
At one point fireworks were lit just feet away from the vehicle, with police adding that another was ignited by someone on top of the car.

The woman's son also spoke to Cooper while smirking.
Asked what he'd say to anyone considering taking part in a street takeover, he answered: 'They shouldn't do it, not at all.'
When asked if he would like to apologize to the police in Randolph, he exclaimed: 'I didn't do nothing!'
Other suspects put their hoods up, screamed and ran away on seeing Cooper trying to question them, with a lawyer growing visibly frustrated by the reporter's dogged questions.
Randolph Police detectives reviewed cruiser dash camera footage, surveillance video and numerous social media videos posted publicly online in the aftermath of the incident.
Investigators also obtained a search warrant for information related to several Instagram accounts whose owners were believed to be connected to the events.
Messages recovered through the investigation indicated that organizers shared locations and instructions with participants and encouraged spectators to impede police.
The suspects aged between 19 to 31 now face a range of charges that include conspiracy, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct, operating to endanger, number plate violations and related offenses.

Investigators said several of the accused travelled across state lines to participate in the mayhem.
'Street takeovers create dangerous conditions for everyone involved, including the responding officers, anyone traveling in that area and residents who live nearby,' said Chief Anthony Marag.
'This case required extensive investigative work and strong coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies.
'I commend our detectives for the time and effort they put into identifying those responsible, and I also want to recognize the patrol officers who faced a volatile situation that night and continued working to keep the community safe.'
