A Byron Bay yoga instructor turned osteopath accused of producing child abuse material and sexually abusing an animal has had her medical registration suspended.

Stina Wangqvist, 48, was arrested earlier this month during a police raid on her home at Lennox Head in northern NSW and later released on bail.

Wangqvist was charged with one count each of producing child abuse material, committing animal sexual abuse and possessing animal sexual abuse material.

She was granted bail under strict conditions, including not to go near, contact or attempt to contact any child aged under 18 years.

Documents seen by the Daily Mail reveal Wangqvist was ordered to abstain from using social media, surrender her passport and report to police daily.

She must also refrain from contacting her co-accused, Tore Milazzo, 47, who police allege used his own dog for sexual gratification. 

The Osteopathy Council of NSW suspended Wangqvist's registration on June 19 in a previously unreported decision it said took immediate effect.

'As reported, Ms Wangqvist has been charged with producing child abuse material and animal abuse offences,' the council said in a statement.

'The council has obligations to protect the health and safety of the public and maintain community confidence in the osteopathy profession and this matter was urgently considered today.

'Due to our confidentiality obligations under the law, we can't provide further detail about this matter.

'Ms Wangqvist has the right to appeal the council's decision before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal or can request the council review its decision.'

Milazzo faces nine charges including producing child abuse material, possessing child abuse material, committing animal sexual abuse and sexually touching an animal.

He is further charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and failing to comply with approved firearm storage requirements.

Milazzo was granted strict conditional bail and was ordered not to own or be in possession of any animals - domestic or otherwise - to report to police daily and not use or possess more than one mobile telephone service and SIM card.

He also must provide the password or PIN code, service and IMEI numbers of that telephone to officers within 24 hours of taking or resuming possession of any such service.

News of the pair's arrests has shaken the Northern Rivers community, with many locals knowing Wangqvist for her yoga classes and the at-home osteopathy programs she runs to help restore function and manage pain.

In an Instagram post celebrating Christmas last year, Wangqvist shared a video which encouraged her followers to realise 'the power of creating a space where people feel seen and it's very important you protect that'.

The Swedish national also spoke about her passion to inspire people to lead a healthier life.

The Osteopathy Council of NSW manages complaints about registered osteopaths and works with practitioners to help them practise safely. 

The council states its primary legal obligation is to protect the public by ensuring osteopaths practise in accordance with professional standards.

In managing complaints, the council can place restrictions on a practitioner and monitor those restrictions to make sure they are being met. 

It can also take immediate regulatory action to suspend or place conditions on an osteopath's registration when it considers there is an unacceptable risk to public health and safety or when it is in the public interest.

Wangqvist will return to Ballina Court on August 20. Milazzo's case is listed at Byron Bay Local Court on August 3.
