A murder investigation has been launched after a man died and another seriously injured following a 'fight' inside a home in an affluent Brighton neighbourhood.

Emergency services rushed to Moon's Lodge, in Regency Square at around 2.10am on Sunday after reports of the aggravated brawl.

Two men were stabbed during the fight. One man, in his thirties, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The second man, aged 37, was pronounced dead at the scene soon after the services arrived. His next of kin have been informed.

A 26-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested at a nearby location on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

He remained in custody on Sunday afternoon.

Police will maintain an increased presence in and around the seafront Regency Square as the investigation continues.
