Chilling moment beauty queen is shot dead 'by her mother-...
2026-04-24 · via News | Mail Online

This is the chilling moment a former beauty queen is allegedly shot in front of her baby by her mother-in-law in her luxury Mexico apartment.

New mother Carolina Flores Gomez was just 27 when she was fatally shot 12 times in her face, neck and head in Mexico city on April 15.

Harrowing footage taken from inside her home showed the young mother walking around in the living room, before going into a walking into a room deeper in the apartment.

Her mother-in-law, 63-year-old Erika Herrera, was seen walking slowly behind Carolina with both of her hands in her pockets.

She followed her towards the room Carolina walked into, before loud bangs were heard.

Carolina could be heard screaming as shots from a gun apparently rang out.

At least six shots could be heard in the clip, first reported by Mexican newspaper Reforma.

The distressing footage showed Carolina's husband Alejandro Gomez nonchalantly reacting to the alleged shooting.

Just seconds after his wife was killed, Alejandro walked into the frame of the video while carrying their eight-month-old baby, asking his mother in Spanish: 'What was that? What crazy thing did you do?'

Herrera answered: 'Nothing. She made me angry.'

Gomez calmly asks her: 'What's wrong with you, she's my family.'

Herrera answered: 'You're mine and she stole you.'

Local media reported that the family did not report the fatal shooting until the following day.

Carolina's mother, Reyna Gomez Molina, told Univision News that the shooting was not reported until the next day as the family were worried about what might happen to the couple's young child.

Police have since launched an investigation into the incident, and Reforma reported today that the office of the Attorney General of Mexico City has issued an arrest warrant against Herrera, whose whereabouts are not currently known.

Carolina was crowned Miss Teen Universe for Baja California in 2017 when she was 18, before leaving the Mexican state to move to the country's capital.

Since then, she worked as an influencer and content creator, sharing videos of her daily life, travels and fashion.

Friend Alexa Villalobos said in an emotional post to social media: 'Carolina was beautiful inside and out; loving, charismatic, and helpful.

'It seems impossible to believe that someone with so much grace could leave in this way; the snatching away of a life full of dreams and love is something unforgivable.

'I want justice for Caro, for her family, her mother, her little sister, and her baby, who were her greatest happiness.'

Her former school, El Tesoro del Saber, said in a statement: 'With deep sadness we want to express our most sincere condolences for the irreparable loss of our former student Carolina Flores Gomez, who was part of our community from her earliest years.

'Although time has passed, we fondly remember her time at our school and the joy she shared with us.

'We join in the grief of her family and loved ones, sending them a hug full of solidarity. Rest in peace.

'Your teachers will always remember you as that beautiful little girl, full of love and tenderness.'

Reyna Gomez Molina organised a protest march in her daughter's memory over the weekend, demanding justice.
