And although desperate to follow the Tartan Army to the World Cup to watch Scotland play, Sir Andy Murray has admitted he will be stuck at home - unless the team advance to the quarter-finals.
The tennis ace said he cannot travel to the tournament until his offspring are on summer holidays and said: ‘I’m excited for the World Cup. You know, it’s been since I was a kid that we were last in any sort of major football competition. ‘
The two times Wimbledon champions went on: ‘I was hoping to maybe go over there at some stage, but they’ll need to make it to the quarterfinals, I think, for me to have a chance of going out once the kids have finished school. They are the priority, but I’m excited.
‘I’m excited to watch it. It would be nice to have a World Cup where you get to follow and watch Scotland.
‘And I think they’ll get great support out there as well. I think a lot of Scots will travel to go and watch, particularly the Brazil game.’
Sir Andy was rooting for Steve Clarke’s men during a charity visit to Glasgow to serve up soup and peel potatoes.
He was at the Move On facility touring the new Coronation Food Project Hub as an ambassador for potato firm Albert Barlett who work with Fairshare/Felix to feed families in need across the UK.
