Sir David Jason has said he mourns the death of the British high street, claiming 'small shops are hanging on by the skin of their teeth' amid the rise in delivery apps.
The actor, best known for playing Del Boy in the hit BBC show Only Fools and Horses, bemoaned 'blokes on pushbikes' who have even 'outmanoeuvred' supermarkets as people switch to shopping online.
Mr Jason, 86, was looking back on his time as corner shop assistant Granville Arkwright in Open All Hours alongside the late Ronnie Barker during the 1970s and 1980s.
When the show was filmed, Britain was more community spirited and life revolved around the local shop.
But Sir David warned that we are 'slowly moving away from the shop in the high street - and that's very sad', it has been reported.
The Only Fools star said: 'Small shops are hanging on by the skin of their teeth. [The rise of delivery apps] has changed the way we shop. Even supermarkets are beginning to be outmanoeuvred by it.
'These days you can have a meal for half a dozen people delivered by some bloke on a pushbike. You can have beds delivered to your door overnight. You can phone it up and it's there in the morning.
'The whole dynamic is slowly moving away from the shop in the high street. And that's very sad.'

In September last year it was revealed that Sir David will reprise his role of Granville Arkwright for a TV special.
Billed as Open All Hours: Inside Out, the 90-minute episode will air at 8pm on Thursday, May 7.
The star will appear in a short scene which has been penned by original creator Roy Clarke.
Speaking about the new show, Sir David said: 'It's so good to be back! I played Granville for over half my life and so this show holds a very special place in my heart.
'There are countless memories and stories about this show, and I am thrilled to be able to share those with everyone.'
Open All Hours first arrived on the BBC back in 1973 as a pilot episode, before being commissioned for a full series by bosses.
It went on to air four full series, which, despite just 26 episodes being produced, are still enjoyed by fans today - and Sir David is the only actor to have starred in every episode of the show.
In 2013 the show was revived with a new name, Still Open All Hours, as Granville Arkwright took over the shop. It ran for six years before being cancelled in 2019.

In May last year Sir David sent fans into a frenzy as he unexpectedly reprised his role as Del Boy.
The actor had harped back to his days on Only Fools and Horses during an appearance on Chris Moyles's Radio X show.
He was discussing how he used to get into character as the brash South London market trader when he cheekily took on Del Boy's iconic voice once again.
The host eagerly asked him: 'Can I say hello to Del Boy?'
And in Del Boy's accent, Sir David humorously responded: 'Yeah, go on then, pal.'
The actor sent the entire studio into a frenzy as Chris Moyles replied: 'That is just amazing!'
