The Great Green Hypocrite: Newly-elected councillor 'Baggy' Khan drives a gas guzzling Lamborghini, runs a second-hand car dealership AND a haulage firm. His pitch to voters? I stand with Palestine
2026-05-16 · via News | Mail Online

Resplendent in his wedding finery at the wheel of a bright orange £270,000 Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, he looked, as one supporter commented on Instagram, like the 'King of Bolton'.

At the age of just 25, sharply dressed entrepreneur Mohammad Baghdadi 'Baggy' Khan – who runs multiple businesses – was last week elected as Green councillor for the Bolton ward of Halliwell, where he enjoys rapturous support from many residents.

But his local acclaim quickly turned to national mockery when, just days after his victory, Khan posted the video – thought to be from 2023 – showing him driving the gas–guzzling, 5.2–litre supercar, which has a top speed of 200mph.

The hypocrisy hardly needs pointing out. Khan's party has been accused of pursuing a 'war on motorists' with claims that its policies – such as slashing motorway speed limits, increasing road taxes and cutting parking spaces – are likely to make driving 'slower, more expensive and, in many cases, impossible'.

As the footage went viral on X – it has now been viewed more than three million times – the Greens made attempts at damage control, releasing a statement insisting Khan 'fully supports' party policies of 'reducing the dangers' from speeding traffic and 'investment in public transport to make it easier to choose alternatives to the car'.

Today, a Mail investigation can reveal that the tawdry Lamborghini footage is just one example of Khan's curious roster of interests, which raises troubling questions about his suitability as a councillor – particularly one representing the Green Party, which, in the public imagination at least, still retains some element of concern for the environment.

For among petrolhead Khan's many businesses is, of all things, a second–hand car dealership – launched after he was selected as a Green candidate – and a road haulage firm that uses HGVs to deliver heavy loads around the UK.

And while the Green Party has been at pains to point out that Khan's garish Lamborghini was rented for his wedding, the councillor's social media profiles are littered with images of high–end sports cars – including a Mercedes with a customised number plate.

Khan's family originally came from Pakistan, where they still own a farmhouse, but he grew up on a rough council estate in the Bolton ward that he now represents

And even Khan's fellow Greens are struggling to defend revelations that, during his campaign, he posted videos online which appear to show him filming himself while driving.

These have horrified local Greens, many of whom are deeply sensitive about road safety after their popular branch secretary died in a car accident last year.

It's an explosive start to a career in politics for the ambitious young man whom one local has described as Bolton's answer to fictional car salesman Arthur Daley, American boxing promoter Don King and wheeler–dealer Del Boy, all rolled into one.

So who exactly is this flamboyant individual? How did he make his money – and how does he square his fondness for the open road with his party's historic desire to protect the planet?

Khan's family originally came from Pakistan, where they still own a farmhouse, but he grew up on a rough council estate in the Bolton ward that he now represents.

However, these days he lives a few miles away in a detached home in a leafy cul–de–sac, which his father, Sohbat Khan, who made his money running local retail businesses, bought in 2022 for £615,000.

Despite promising during his local election campaign to support the Green Party's policy of more taxes for 'billionaires', Khan seems happy flaunting the wealth he has accrued over the years.

He enjoys parading pictures of himself sporting tailored suits, designer clothing and luxury watches, and has also posted on social media footage of gas–guzzling trips to a five–star Red Sea resort in Egypt in February 2025 and a visit to Dubai in 2023.

Khan graduated from Leicester's De Montfort University in 2024 as an audiologist – a hearing specialist.

A successful amateur pugilist in his teens, since leaving university, he has rebranded himself as a boxing promoter with one of his companies, Beecrown Promotions. Online videos show him hyping up bouts and interviewing victorious fighters in the ring.

In a post from December 2024, he showcased an upcoming fight featuring Dr Asif Munaf who had appeared on The Apprentice and Dragons' Den.

'This isn't just a fight; it's the main attraction of the fastest–growing white–collar event in the UK,' Khan wrote alongside the footage of him welcoming Munaf into his Bolton office.

Khan's decision to promote Munaf came 11 months after the BBC dropped him from The Apprentice after he posted a string of anti–Semitic posts, including calling Zionism a 'satanic cult' in the aftermath of Hamas's murderous October 7 attacks and describing Zionists as 'odiously ogre–like'.

He later branded Israel a 'neo–colonial white supremacist death cult'. Munaf, 37, was subsequently struck off the medical register in January this year for anti–Semitism after a tribunal investigated his social media activity.

But even Khan's relationship with disgraced Munaf is only the beginning of his questionable business links. He also runs Beecrown Recruitment, which launched in January 2023 and claims to be the 'premier destination for top–tier legal talent recruitment in the UK'.

The site currently has eight 'jobs' listed, all of which were posted over two days in May 2023. Whether or not these are genuine, or still available, is in question.

It does, however, feature repeated pop–up adverts offering a 'free consultation' to get a 'free university place' with 'no qualifications needed'.

In a post from this month on the firm's Instagram page Khan explains the offer 'does sound too good to be true, but it's definitely not a scam'.

He says his firm can arrange for students who are not 'really the brightest' to get on degree courses, which will make them eligible for up to £15,000 a year in student finance, funded by the taxpayer. Students who refer others to the company get a bonus of £150.

And in a post from August 2024, filmed outside his home between two Mercedes cars, Khan gives a stilted promotion for a supplement called Well Daily, which he says is the 'secret' to his boundless energy.

On its website, Well Daily claims its products are at the 'cutting–edge [of] nutritional science' having been 'created by a team of PhD doctors with extensive experience in nutrition and biochemistry' with the 'highest scientific standards'. The brand flogs principally powdered caffeine and turmeric.

The Greens announced Khan's 'unanimous' selection as a council candidate in January 2026, saying he was 'well–known in the community' and his 'social media presence makes him a great candidate for success'.

It is unclear whether the party took a proper look at Khan's online output. Soon after his selection, it emerged he had posted footage on his Instagram account in which he appeared to be filming himself while driving on a motorway. The video shows him sitting in the driver's seat before flipping the camera to show the steering wheel.

After the footage caught the attention of local media, an unsigned email addressed to local Green Party members claimed that the committee had voted to deselect Khan over the video, but, because it was too late to do so, they had instead decided to reallocate the funds for his campaign to 'other target wards'.

It added: 'Road safety is a key area the branch will be campaigning on due to the tragic loss of our branch secretary Vicki Attenborough in a road accident in December.'

Khan pictured at his wedding in 2023. He reposted the video of him driving the 5.2–litre supercar, which has a top speed of 200mph

In a campaign video, Khan explained: 'One of the main reasons I'm standing for the Green Party is literally because they stand with Palestine'

Married mother Mrs Attenborough, a retired NHS worker who was also the Green Party's candidate to become MP for Bolton West in 2024, was struck by a car as she was walking along a country lane in Bolton three days before Christmas 2025.

The town also suffered a devastating crash in January, which killed a taxi driver and three teenagers. Bolton Tory councillor Anne Galloway told the Daily Mail this week: 'Mr Khan's videos of himself in supercharged cars has created a lot of unwanted attention, especially in Bolton, which has suffered so much in recent months with car accidents.

'It has caused a lot of consternation here, where speeding is a real issue. Especially among young people, who then put it on social media. Young men and fast driving is certainly a problem in this town.'

Khan hit back, saying the video was 'very old' and he was 'confident I will be able to prove that I am not guilty of breaking the law'.

He claimed he had been 'demonised' by a 'small faction' in his own party, adding: 'I am still trying to figure out if that is to do with my being Asian, Muslim or something else?'

Days after the unsigned email was sent, a second email, signed by Green Party chairman and Bolton Councillor Hanif Alli, claimed the first message had been 'unauthorised' and 'contained false and misleading information' that constituted an 'unacceptable attack' on Khan, who had his 'full support'.

But those who know Khan say that he is still a keen driver and uses his Mercedes every day for commutes and social outings as he does not 'like to use the bus'.

One family member who did not want to be named told the Mail: 'Baggy loves his cars – but how that fits in with the Green Party's policies I don't know.'

Which brings us to Khan's most recent business endeavour. On March 19, 2026, less than two months after his candidacy was announced and with his campaign at full throttle, Khan and a partner incorporated a new car dealership called GBR Auto Group Ltd.

Its website currently has five cars available for sale, two diesel and three petrol, including a hatchback MG3 and a Toyota Aygo. None of his stock is electric – despite the Green Party's commitment to end the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2027 and phase out their use entirely by 2035.

Khan promoted the sales on his social media pages. One TikTok video shows him driving to Blackburn to buy a hybrid Mercedes C220d with a 2.1–litre diesel engine.

As for his road–haulage firm Beecrown Transport Limited –which boasts a fleet of vehicles from 'small vans to HGV lorries for heavyweight haulage requirements' – its website states it has 'over 15 years of unwavering commitment to excellence'. Companies House records show the firm was only registered by Khan in 2024.

So precisely why did he decide to join the Greens? Like many recent recruits to the party, it appears the answer may lie in events going on 2,500 miles away from Bolton.

In a campaign video, Khan explained: 'One of the main reasons I'm standing for the Green Party is literally because they stand with Palestine.'

Locals in the ward told the Daily Mail this week that they voted for him due to his pledge to 'end to the killing of our Palestinian brothers and sisters'.

One commentator separately noted that footage of Khan posted minutes after winning his council seat showed him being greeted by a crowd of his supporters – all Asian men. With the exception of the returning officer who appears in one post and another film showing him campaigning with two female Green supporters in Bolton, the Daily Mail could not find a single video or image on his extensive social media output which features a woman.

That also includes Khan's wife. Though we know he married three years ago, she is conspicuous by her absence from her husband's prolific online activity and could not be tracked down by Daily Mail.

Khan refused to speak to the Daily Mail directly and referred all comments to the Green Party press office, who told us – somewhat surprisingly – that he was focused on 'tackling the climate crisis' and wanted to make it 'easier for people to choose alternatives to the car while securing greener, nature–friendly urban spaces'.

'He has chosen to proactively educate himself further on road safety best practice and recognises the dangers posed by the anti–social use of cars, not least in the light of recent tragedies. Cllr Khan says he has sought legal advice and is confident he has committed no road traffic offence.'

In one of his campaign posts, Khan admitted he was still young and making some mistakes, and asked for 'patience' as he grew up.

It's a reasonable request. But some might wonder if the Greens' flashy social media star truly has the faintest interest in saving the planet – and in fact cares only about events in the Middle East and his various business interests.
