Unsettling moment great white shark is spotted off Bondi ...

Footage has surfaced of a great white shark in the water off a Sydney beach just over a week after a young mother was mauled at a nearby swimming spot.

The new video was shared to social media by Drone Shark App on Tuesday showing the large shadow in the water out the back of Bondi Beach as swimmers and surfers enjoyed the water metres away.

'At first, I wasn't completely certain, but I was about 90 per cent sure it was a white shark,' the caption said. 'After reviewing the 4K footage, that identification was confirmed.'

The post explained the drone had spotted salmon gathering near the beach and the shark showed up a short time later.

Drone Shark App then contacted lifeguards who warned those at the beach before taking out a jetski to patrol the area.

'The lifeguards did a great job responding quickly and sounding the alarm to help keep everyone safe.'

Just 10 days ago, Leah Stewart was swimming at Coogee Beach also in Sydney's eastern suburbs as a friend watched her one-year-old daughter on the sand, when she was mauled by a great white shark.

The 35-year-old teacher is being treated in St Vincent's Hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition after undergoing an arm amputation, among other surgeries.

Salmon had been gathering at the back of the beach shortly before the shark appeared

'It is expected this will remain her condition for some time,' the hospital said on Monday in a statement on behalf of Ms Stewart's family.

'There is a long road ahead for her and her family.'

A fundraiser to help Ms Stewart with her rehabilitation, prosthetics and medical bills had raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.

On Sunday, Coogee Beach was filled with crowds who took to the water in a show of solidarity for Ms Stewart and the eastern suburbs community.

Additional safety measures were in place for the gathering including lifeguards on jetskis and inflatable dinghies and a drone watching the crowds from overhead.
