Historic redesign of US passport featuring imposing image...

President Donald Trump has unveiled a redesigned commemorative US passport featuring a striking portrait of himself as part of the country's celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The limited-edition document will be available from the Washington Passport Agency while supplies last.

It places a stern-faced image of Trump on the inside cover alongside text from the Declaration of Independence, making him the first sitting US president to appear inside an American passport.

Trump revealed the updated design on Friday in a post on his Truth Social account, where he shared a rendering of the passport and declared: 'The U.S.A.'s New Passport, which says, "Welcome, but be good!"'

The White House simultaneously released the same artwork, branding it the 'Patriot Passport.'

The revised design differs from an earlier concept announced by the State Department in April and features a more imposing portrait of Trump leaning over the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office with clenched fists and an intense expression.

The image is based on an official portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok that hangs in the Smithsonian's 'America's Presidents' exhibition.

The design also adds several patriotic elements, including Trump's black signature, gold '250' branding and a more vivid American flag backdrop.

Americans seeking a standard US passport can still apply online, by mail or at passport agencies and US embassies and consulates

Behind Trump's portrait is the text of the Declaration of Independence, while his signature appears beneath the image alongside the words 'United States of America.'

Facing the portrait is artwork depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, based on John Trumbull's famous painting.

The page is overlaid with flowing American flags and carries the inscription 'United States of America 250' in red and gold.

The commemorative passport also includes a gold 'Freedom 250' emblem on its back cover, according to the State Department.

A State Department spokesperson said the agency is 'proud' to release a passport that 'boldly honors our nation's founding and our President.'

Officials said the commemorative document will be available only through in-person appointments at the Washington Passport Agency beginning July 6 and only while supplies last.

Americans seeking a standard passport will still be able to apply online, by mail or through passport agencies and US embassies and consulates as normal.

The passport is the latest example of Trump placing his personal stamp on federal institutions and Washington landmarks during his second term.

The Treasury Department originally shared this design for a Trump $1 Coin last October that showed President Donald Trump's pose after surviving an assassination attempt

In recent months, banners featuring the president have appeared outside several government buildings, while the Treasury Department has announced that Trump's signature will appear on the one-dollar bill.

His administration has also moved forward with plans for a commemorative coin bearing Trump's likeness, 'Trump accounts' for children and overseen construction of a new $600 million White House ballroom.

Trump also sought to attach his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, although a court later ruled that it should be removed.
