The AK-47-wielding wife of an Islamic State slave rapist, who allegedly taught the terror group's extremist ideology to others, wants to be released into the Australian community. 

Kawsar Abbas, 53, faces charges of enslavement, possessing a slave, using a slave and engaging in slave trading.

She appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday, where she launched a bid to be released back into the community on bail. 

The alleged slaver was represented by top Melbourne silk Peter Morrissey, SC, who represented Bali 9 members Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran during their appeals in Indonesia.

Abbas faces a massive challenge in securing bail after her daughter, Zeinab Ahmad, 31, was denied bail in the same court just days ago. 

Chief Magistrate Lisa Hannan, who will decide Abbas' fate, refused Ahmad bail on the grounds she posed too great a risk to the community if released. 

Australian Federal Police Detective Senior Constable Marc Clendenning, who led the charge against Ahmad, aired similar concerns to the court about her mother. 

He told the court Abbas had taught religious practices and ideology within the household while living with her family in Syria and feared she would do so again if released. 

The court heard Abbas' alleged slave claimed she had been the one to instruct and condition the household slaves. 

'The accused told her she was not allowed to practice her own religion and told her to read the Quran,' Det Clendenning said.

The court heard Abbas told the alleged slaves they needed to behave as Islamic State warriors did. 

'I want you to be taught how to use weapons according to the Daish beliefs. We should be the same. Whatever they do, we have to be the same,' she allegedly told her. 

The court heard Abbas would allegedly threaten their slaves with beatings or the threat of being assaulted. 

'(The alleged slave) claimed the accused owned a Kalashnikov rifle and a Glock (pistol) and that she knew how to use them and observed her clean them,' the detective said. 

In opposing bail, Det Clendenning said he expected Abbas to continue preaching Islamic State's wicked ways on Australian soil. 

'The accused is expected to continue practising Islam in Australia and attend local Islamic mosques. The accused has previously taught extreme interpretations of Islam,' he said.

'She has the propensity to further expand these teachings and ideology to Islamic Australians while in mosques.'

Federal authorities allege Abbas' husband Mohammad Ahmad - who is now in a Syrian prison - was a brutal slavedriver.

The court heard he routinely assaulted the family slave, punching and dragging her down two flights of stairs by her hair on one occasion.

'I bought you for sex and housework,' she was told.

The girl had allegedly been taken captive as a 15-year-old when ISIS combatants murdered her mother and brother.

Over the next five years she was said to have been traded about 17 times to different ISIS members, who beat, tortured and raped her.

Police allege the Ahmad family bought the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, for US$10,000 during Ramadan in 2017.

Mr Ahmad told others the young girl was his wife, but allegedly told her: 'I bought you for the purpose of raping and at the same time serving the home.'

Sen Const Clendenning said Mr Ahmad was permitted to take everything from her and to treat her as he treated his other wives

At the time he had two known wives and seven children aged between 17 and 29.

Det Clendenning claimed that unlike her daughter, Abbas had never renounced the terror organisation. 

It was an allegation strongly denied by Abbas' barrister, who dismissed accusations his client continued to support the terror organisation. 

Mr Morrissey said it was 'fanciful' Abbas would attempt to convert family members in Australia to participate in jihadist activities and claimed she had indeed renounced ISIS.

'She's told a psychologist and instructed a barrister to say publicly to the world that she wants nothing more to do with ISIS. They’re terrible,’ he said. 

Mr Morrissey suggested his client's act of renouncing ISIS had put her in 'the bad books' with the terror organisation. 

'In terms of her future engagement with ISIS, are you suggesting that a 52-year old lady who said ... "ISIS sucked" that she's going to be someone who will preach jihad or violence to other people?' Mr Morrisey inquired. 

'Yes I do,' Det Clendenning said. 

The hearing will continue on Monday.
