Two 22-year-old men have been charged after police stopped an alleged 'kill car' filled with weapons, cable ties and cans of fuel before an alleged 'violent crime'.

Officers were called to Karangi Road, in the western Sydney suburb of Whalan about 2.40am on Wednesday after reports of a home invasion.

Four men forced their way into the property with a hammer and firearm, police were told, but fled in a black Mercedes SUV before authorities arrived.

No one was injured during the break-in.

About 12 hours later, detectives found two men moving items from a black Mercedes SUV into a Hyundai hatchback in a garage on Lissanthe Street in Marsden Park.

The hatchback drove away from the home but was stopped by Strike Force Duncan officers and heavily-armed Raptor Squad members on Richmond Road.

Police said they found a pump-action shotgun, ammunition, jerry cans of fuel, three sledgehammers, four baseball bats, duct tape, cable ties, and pillowcases after searching the vehicle.

A man from Blackett and one from Coyton, both aged 22, were arrested and charged with four offences each.

Police said they also found a pump-action shotgun and ammunition

A man from Blackett and one from Coyton, both aged 22, were charged with four offences each

They face one charge each of possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm-not pistol or prohibited firearm, possessing ammunition without holding a licence, permit, or authority.

They are also accused of one count each of using, supplying, acquiring or possessing a defaced firearm.

Both men have been refused bail and are due to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on Thursday.

Police said officers executed a search warrant at the Lissanthe Street home where they allegedly seized a black Mercedes SUV.

'Taskforce Falcon detectives have thwarted an alleged violent crime after intercepting a ‘kill car’ and charging two men in Sydney’s west,' a media statement said.

Investigations under the taskforce, which is a specialised unit established in May last year to suppress rising gangland conflict in Sydney, continue.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation of organised criminal activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
