A thick blanket of fog over Sydney has sparked a series of cancellations at one of Australia's busiest airports.
Sydneysiders woke to fog about 50metres above the ground on Wednesday, with the thick mist stretching from the city's south to the north-western suburbs.
Sydney Airport has been covered by fog all morning, resulting in delays and cancellations across the network.
A number of domestic flights to Melbourne, Canberra and Port Macquarie were cancelled due to safety concerns.
Qantas' QF405 and QF425 to Melbourne, QF1427 to Canberra, QF2160 to Port Macquarie, Jetstar flight 505 to Melbourne and a Qantas flight to Christchurch were all cancelled as a result of the weather.
'Fog has descended at the airport resulting in delays and cancellations across the network. We will continue to monitor the weather conditions as the morning progresses,' a Sydney Airport spokesperson said.
'We advise passengers to check the status of their flight with the airline.'
The fog has also affected incoming flights to Sydney.
