A newborn was heroically rescued from a car trapped in waist-high floodwaters during a torrential Texas downpour.
Dramatic body camera footage showed Beeville City police officers and firefighters rescuing a baby from the stranded vehicle on Saturday.
A first responder, holding a neon green safety jacket, is seen approaching the white car that was close to being swept into a nearby creek.
'I have a baby in the car,' the distressed driver is heard shouting to the officer in the video.
'You got a baby?' the officer asked. 'Be advised the car is going toward the creek, we’ve got an infant in the car,' he continued saying in the video.
The first responder then hands the green jacket off to his colleague, before saying: 'I’m going in.'
The hero pushed through the trees and bushes as heavy rain poured down, sloshing toward the car.
As he trudged toward the vehicle, the driver asked, 'Can you get my kid?' and the officer responded, 'Yeah, give me the baby.'
The officer pried open the car door as the father passed off his newborn, still in its carrier, frantically shouting: 'Cover him, cover him.'

The brave responder grabbed the carrier and rushed back to his colleague, where they covered the child with the safety jacket.
The terrifying ordeal unfolded as severe storms dumped rain across the region, and police said the rainfall overflowed a low-water crossing, trapping the white car.
'When heavy rain hits, conditions around our low water crossings can change fast. What may look passable one minute can quickly become dangerous the next,' the department wrote on Facebook.
Responders arrived after the vehicle drove into a flooded creek crossing and was engulfed by rushing waters.
'The rain moved in so quickly that barricades had not yet been placed in the area,' they continued.
'As the vehicle approached the crossing, the fire chief attempted to wave the driver down to stop them from entering the water, but the driver did not see him in time.
'Ptl Puente entered the water and helped remove a baby from the vehicle while other responders arrived to assist. A volunteer firefighter on scene also assisted during the incident. Thankfully, nobody was hurt,' the department stated.
The ordeal unfolded on Saturday during torrential downpour in the city about 100 miles southeast of San Antonio

The department added the incident is a reminder that 'floodwater is nothing to gamble with,' adding it doesn’t take much for a car to be swept off the roadway.
They warned residents not to ignore barricades at crossings, as it is dangerous and a criminal offense.
'Please slow down during heavy rain, avoid flooded areas, and use caution near creek crossings and roadways that are known to take on water.
'No errand, shortcut, or destination is worth risking your life or your family’s safety,' the department wrote.
