A man has been crushed to death after being trapped beneath 300 kilograms of glass at a residential property in Sydney’s north‑west.
Emergency services rushed to a home on Valencia Street in Dural just after 11am on Monday following reports a massive amount of glass had collapsed onto a man.
On arrival crews found the man, 49, pinned beneath the heavy load and unable to free himself.
Officers from said the man was delivering glass panes at the property when a number of sheets collapsed on him.
Fire and Rescue NSW, including specialist technical rescue crews, worked alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics in a complex and painstaking rescue operation to reach the victim.
Despite frantic efforts at the scene, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Worksafe NSW has also been notified, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
