An Aussie woman has been left fighting for life following a horrific accident in Mexico.
Queensland woman Jess was injured at Sayulita, 800km west of Mexico City, on Saturday and has been left with a fractured skull and a brain bleed.
She was rushed to hospital and has been in intensive care, where she has been treated for swelling and other complications.
Her sister Celeste Baker said she is showing small signs of improvement but remains disoriented and has a long road to recovery.
‘Our family’s world was turned upside down this week when my sister, Jess, was involved in a serious accident,’ she wrote on GoFundMe.
‘We are incredibly grateful that she is receiving care. Unfortunately, we are facing significant out-of-pocket medical costs for her ongoing treatment and recovery.’
The family is trying to raise $35,000 to help cover hospital care, ongoing treatment and monitoring.
Jess may also need to be transferred when she is stable, while her family need accommodation as they fly to be by her bedside.

‘Jess is strong, independent, and deeply loved by everyone who knows her,’ Ms Baker said.
‘Right now, our focus is on giving her the best possible chance to recover without the added pressure of overwhelming financial stress.’
Sayulita is a village on Mexico’s Pacific coast, backed by the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains and is known for its beaches.
