Where are the cast of Austin Powers? From one reclusive star to a tragic death to a glamorous Hollywood A-lister - as Mike Myers CONFIRMS there will be a fourth film
Amelia Wynne · 2026-06-18 · via News | Mail Online

Austin Powers fans will be delighted to hear that a fourth film is finally confirmed almost 30 years after the original instalment was released.

The franchise began in 1997 with International Man of Mystery before The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) soon followed.

And now the story will continue it has been confirmed, as this week Mike, 63, was asked by a fan on Trevor Noah's World Cup Watch Party whether there would be another film.

He simply responded 'yes.' And while he didn't elaborate further fans will no doubt be looking to see their favourite stars back on screen.

It's not the first time Mike has spoken about continuing the franchise, and previously said he'd like whatever comes next to focus on his character Dr Evil.

It comes after things felt tantalisingly close to be confirmed this week when the cast - including Mike, Rob Lowe, Seth Green and Mindy Sterling - reunited for a new Verizon advert.

So where are the main cast members now?

Mike Myers - Dr Evil

Mike dominated the late '90s and early 2000s with hits like Austin Powers, Wayne's World and Shrek, but later stepped away from major blockbuster roles.

He famously starred opposite Eddie Murphy, who voiced Donkey in the hit Shrek films.

The Shrek franchise has been a commercially successful and critically-acclaimed property for DreamWorks Animation for more than two decades, spawning four feature motion pictures and multiple spinoff projects.

Shrek 5 is officially in development and is currently scheduled to be released in cinemas in June 2027, with Mike and Eddie reprising their roles.

Back in April Mike made a rare public appearance to support his co-star Eddie as he was honoured at the AFI Life Achievement Awards in Los Angeles.

He stepped out dressed as his iconic Shrek character with green face paint and trumpet-shaped ears.

Eddie was honoured with the prestigious AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his groundbreaking career in comedy and cinema.

Mike (right, in May) dominated the late '90s and early 2000s with hits like Austin Powers, Wayne's World and Shrek, but later stepped away from major blockbuster roles

Across the three films, his iconic characters include British spy Austin Powers, his archenemy Dr. Evil (pictured), the Scottish henchman Fat B*****d and the Dutch villain Goldmember

'None of the 'Shrek' success could have happened without Eddie Murphy; his character Donkey is a masterpiece,' Mike said on stage.

'As is every character that Eddie has created.... It is an absolute honour to be able to tell my kids that I got to work with Eddie Murphy.'

Part of Mike's move away from blockbuster movies was due to the fact that he didn't have much luck when he ventured outside of his three hit franchises.

Since then, he's popped up occasionally rather than staying constantly in the spotlight.

His most recent appearances include Bohemian Rhapsody, voicing Shrek again in specials, and starring in the Netflix series The Pentaverate.

But it seems Mike is ready to bring back the Austin Powers films after franchise director Jay Roach told Deadline in 2020: 'I wouldn't say 'never' never, but it does depend on Mike having something that he's inspired about and after all these years it hasn't quite clicked yet.

'But I'm always game for anything he wants to do. He's a genius and he helped me get started and it was a blast.'

Mike is married to wife Kelly Tisdale, 49, and they are parents to three children: son Spike, 14, and daughters Sunday, 12, and Paulina, 10.

Seth Green - Scott Evil

Seth, now 52, (right, earlier this month) played the character Scott Evil, the estranged, brooding son of the international supervillain Dr. Evil

Seth, now 52, played the character Scott Evil, the estranged, brooding son of the international supervillain Dr. Evil.

After Austin Powers, he became best known for voicing Chris Griffin on Family Guy, and co-creating the Emmy-winning stop-motion series Robot Chicken.

He also starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Daniel 'Oz' Osbourne - who became a beloved fan-favorite character.

Fans will also remember him from Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed where he played Patrick Wisely - the museum curator of the Coolsonian Criminology Museum.

When he was cast in Austin Powers he was mainly working on Buffy and saw it as a chance to become a 'serious' character.

He previously told Variety of his character: 'My take on it was that Scott Evil is in a drama while everyone around him is in a ridiculous comedy.

Cause I'd been seeing so many angry, violent, or outrageous teenagers on things like Jerry Springer and they all seemed victim of the same kind of parental apathy.

'That, to me, was very funny to explore when you have a character that is as bold and as silly as Dr. Evil, who is trying as sincerely as he can to form a relationship with his teenage son, the notion of that teenage son being legitimately angry or hurt by the lack of participation in his own upbringing, that just struck me as very funny.'

The character would go on to appear in all three Austin Powers movies and would no doubt be part of the fourth.

Seth is married to actress Clare Grant and they share a daughter named Emery who was born in 2024.

Mindy Sterling - Frau Farbissina

Mindy, now 72, (right, in 2025) played Dr. Evil's loud, German henchwoman in the Austin Powers trilogy

Mindy, now 72, played Dr. Evil's loud, German henchwoman in the Austin Powers trilogy.

As well as Austin Powers, she became widely recognized by younger audiences for playing Miss Francine Briggs on Nickelodeon's iCarly and Principal Susan Skidmore on Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm.

She also starred as Mitzi Kinsky in Desperate Housewives, Linda Schwartz in The Goldbergs, and appeared in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events

In addition, she earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations in 2017 for her work in comedy series Con Man and Secs and Execs.

Back in January she spoke about if there would be a fourth Austin Powers film, telling Remind Magazine: 'I don't think so by now. I mean, every year it comes up and I don't hear any good things.

'There's always a little niche of something and then it's like, okay, well guess that didn't work.'

She also spoke of her favourite memory while filming, saying: 'I love all of them. It's like silly lines as [Frau Farbissina voice] 'Ya, ya, ya, ya.'

'The movie gave me my career. I mean, I was working, but not very much.

'My career just bloomed when I did that role, so I was very excited.

She added in that interview that the second film called The Spy Who Shagged Me was her favourite out of the trilogy.

Rob Lowe - Number 2 (younger version)

Rob (right in 2025) played the younger version of Dr. Evil's henchman, Number 2, in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and reprised the role in Austin Powers in Goldmember

Rob played the younger version of Dr. Evil's henchman, Number 2, in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and reprised the role in Austin Powers in Goldmember.

He is best known for starring in The West Wing where he played White House Deputy Communications Director Sam Seaborn - earning critical acclaim and Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

He also stars in 9-1-1: Lone Star, Unstable, Wayne's World and Parks and Recreation.

Back in 2022, Rob reminisced on working with Mike on Austin Powers, telling Entertainment Tonight: 'My number one memory of that was watching Mike as Dr. Evil and as Fat B*****d. It was like I was a kid.

'When Mike ad-libbed 'Get in my belly,' I was right there. I'll never forget it as long as I'll live. 'I want my baby back, baby back, baby back.' And then the rap that Dr. Evil does with Mini-Me.'

'For a person who loves comedy like I do... to watch someone like Mike just channeling and crushing like that, forget being the actor in it, just being a fan of seeing genius like that.

'That's why we still talk about it... those characters are iconic.'

He added of Mike's iconic character: 'I get starstruck around Dr. Evil.

'I do like Mike and we have known each other for 25, 30 years, but when he's Dr. Evil, I'm totally giddy. I just can't get enough of it.'

Verne Troyer - Mini-Me

Verne was a fan favourite as Mini-Me in two out of three of the Austin Powers films but tragically passed away at the age of 49 on April 21, 2018 (right, in March that year)

Although the character was originally supposed to be killed off at the end of the film, overwhelmingly positive reactions from early test audiences saved the character

Verne was a fan favourite as Mini-Me in two out of three of the Austin Powers films.

He passed away at the age of 49 on April 21, 2018.

He died of suicide by alcohol intoxication and had suffered a long battle with depression.

He made his debut in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me as Dr. Evil's 'concentrated pure evil' clone.

Although the character was originally supposed to be killed off at the end of the film, overwhelmingly positive reactions from early test audiences saved the character.

He reprised his role in Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Troyer was born with achondroplasia dwarfism, which caused him to stop growing at 2ft8.

The actor had reportedly done several stints in rehab as a result of his alcohol problems, which included being hospitalized in April of 2017.

'I've been hearing from some concerned fans, so I'd like to address a very personal situation,' Troyer said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.

'As you know, I've battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it's not always been an easy fight, I'm willing to continue my fight day by day.'

Aside from Austin Powers he starred in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and had cameos in Jingle All the Way and Men in Black.

Michael York - Basil Exposition

Michael, now 84, (right, in 2018)  played quintessential British intelligence operative Basil Exposition in all three Austin Powers films

Michael, now 84, played quintessential British intelligence operative Basil Exposition in all three Austin Powers films.

He also starred as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, Brian Roberts in Cabaret, and Logan 5 in the sci-fi classic Logan's Run

Speaking previously about how he first got involved with the Austin Powers franchise, she told the BBC: 'Well the way that usually happens: you're sent a script and if it appeals to you, you meet the powers involved.

'Then, of course, Austin Powers was an unknown quantity, it was just a script. I thought there was something delicious about it, and having seen Mike Myers work on Saturday Night Live, I just had a hunch.

'I met with Jay Roach, who then was a first-time director. I liked him enormously. I think there's this great thing about working with first-time directors: they've put so much passion and intensity into the work. Lo and behold, it was a big success and the follow-up, The Spy Who Shagged Me was a huge success.'

He has also previously spoken about what he thinks is the appeal of the films, stating: 'I once tried to analyse it, and I think his appeal is across the board - to children and adults alike.

'He's universal. He's basically naughty but very nice. It was a lot of fun.'

Elizabeth Hurley - Vanessa Kensington

Elizabeth (right, this month) portrayed the role of sexy British agent Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery back in 1997

But she has since admitted she has reservations about signing up to star in a potential revival of the comedy film series

Elizabeth portrayed the role of sexy British agent Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery back in 1997.

But she has since admitted she has reservations about signing up to star in a potential revival of the comedy film series.

The actress, now 61, confessed in 2019 that she's hesitant about reprising her character as she playfully said: 'I don't think anybody wants to run around in costumes we were 20 years ago.'

In the iconic film, the screen star played the daughter of Austin's 1960s sidekick Mrs. Kensington, and eventually tied the knot with the leading spy.

Sharing her thoughts on whether she'd like to return for a sequel, Liz candidly said: 'I don't know, I don't think anyone wants to step back and create something when they're 20 years older.

'I think it's OK if something's organically progressed, but I don't think anybody wants to run around in costumes we were 20 years ago.'

After Austin Powers she went on to star in Bedazzled, The Royals, Gossip Girl and most recently Strictly Confidential which was written and directed by her son Damian.

Robert Wagner - Number 2 (older version)

Robert, now 96, (pictured, right in 2019) played iconic, smooth-talking henchman Number 2 in all three Austin Powers films

Back in February of this year, Robert marked his 96th birthday in intimate photos shared by his stepdaughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner (pictured with grandson Riley)

Robert, now 96, played iconic, smooth-talking henchman Number 2 in all three Austin Powers films.

He is also known for starring in the television shows It Takes a Thief, Switch, and Hart to Hart.

He later had recurring roles on Two and a Half Men and NCIS.

Back in February of this year, Robert marked his 96th birthday in intimate photos shared by his stepdaughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner.

The 55-year-old posted the tribute to her stepfather just three months after the 44th anniversary of the passing of her mother - and Robert's late wife - Natalie Wood, who drowned in 1981 at the age of 43.

One snap, shared to her Instagram Stories, showed Wagner blowing out the candles on his two cakes while surrounded by loved ones.

He was seated next to his grandson Riley, 19, the son of his daughter Katie Wagner, 61, whom he shares with late ex-wife Marion Marshall.

Robert had a big Hollywood career that began in the 1950s with films such as The Happy Years and Teresa. He starred in the 1956 hit film A Kiss Before Dying then was in films like Winning and TV shows such as The Streets Of San Francisco.

But he didn't find big fame until 1979 when he played Jonathan Hart opposite Stefanie Powers on the TV series Hart To Hart.

The show was about a rich, good-looking married couple who solved murders as a hobby. It had a total of 111 episodes and went off the air in 1984. The series still does well in re-runs as it has a cult following.

Hart To Hart was created by author Sidney Sheldon.

Each episode revolved around self-made millionaire Jonathan (played by Wagner) and freelance writer Jennifer (starring Powers) who are the child-free Harts, though they do dote on the rescue dog Freeway.

Their sidekick was the streetwise butler Max, played by Lionel Stander.

Famous guest stars on the series included Ray Milland, Capucine, Eve Arden, Tommy Lasorda, Tippi Hedren, Julie Newmar and Robert Davi.

Later, there were several spin off Hart To Hart movies.

He subsequently had success opposite Mike in Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery in 1997.

Robert is wed to Jill St John; they tied the knot in 1990 after eight years of courtship.
