Inside 'ugly duckling' Tiffany Trump's radical transformation: DC whispers about what she's REALLY like behind closed doors... and intimate topic that's firmly off limits
2026-04-30 · via News | Mail Online

It was September 2018 and in her Georgetown Law classroom the president's youngest daughter was manifesting.

Underlined in her textbook, screenshotted and shared to Instagram, were a series of motivational phrases. 'Do not let your desire to be conciliatory stop you from doing justice to your problem,' was one. 'Attack the problem without blaming the people,' was another. The book was Getting To Yes, a best-selling 1981 guide to negotiation.

Fast forward seven years, Tiffany Trump appears to have learned the lessons well. In fact, the Daily Mail is told, Tiffany, now 32, has carved out an enviable position within her father's entourage, becoming one of the most quietly successful people in his orbit.

According to one well-placed source: 'Tiffany is playing the game perfectly – getting the perks without getting into the politics.'

Which perhaps sounds like an elegant way of saying, she's having her cake and eating it too. Last night the cake in question was the flourless chocolate gateaux that rounded off the state dinner hosted by her father in honor of King Charles and the Queen.

Dressed in a protocol-breaking lemon strapless gown, Tiffany's presence at such dinners of moment has become something of a staple of late. Last year, when Donald Trump flew to London in September for a state banquet, hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle, Tiffany was the only one of his children to attend.

Similarly, when a black-tie dinner was held at the White House in honor of the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, the following month it was Tiffany who was front and center greeting the prince.

Her brother Don Jr, the only other child of the president to attend, was relegated to the side. Indeed, the days of her being seen as the forgotten child - Saturday Night Live in 2020 spoofed her brother Eric pointing to Tiffany and asking Don Jr: 'Who's that lady?' - appear to be in the distant past.

Of course, it's surely no coincidence that her rise has coincided with Ivanka's decision to step back from Washington life to raise her family in Palm Beach. It is, after all, rather hard to shine when standing in the shadow of Ivanka's particular brand of ferocious glamour.

Being cast as the 'ugly duckling' is an all but inevitable fate and, for much of her life, that's exactly what happened to Tiffany.

But recently, she has had a notable glow up – slimmed down, with newly found cheekbones that could cut glass, a handsome husband and a beautiful baby. For the first time, perhaps in her life, Tiffany is garnering attention - and she's doing so for all the right reasons.

That's not to say there haven't been missteps - more of that later.

But she has surprised outsiders with how deftly she has drawn up her own role, largely untainted by scandal.

Lara Trump, her sister-in-law, told the Daily Mail that the long-overlooked Tiffany was finally being seen for the warm, easygoing person she really is.

'You won't find a more kind-hearted, down-to-earth, genuine person than Tiffany Trump,' she said. 'Ask anyone who has ever encountered her - they will only have positive things to say.'

One Florida-based friend told the Daily Mail that Tiffany was lowkey, adding: 'She doesn't like to talk about how her dad is the president. She actually tends to shy away from those conversations with strangers. She really seems like she wants to live her own life.'

Another described her as well-liked within their Florida social circles, saying: 'Everything I hear about her is positive. She is nice and smart. Acts like your average high-caliber South Florida girl.'

It was not, of course, always that way.

Tiffany, the only child born from Trump's second marriage to Marla Maples, now 62, was frequently depicted as the outlier among the adult children.

For starters, the trio born to Trump's first wife, Ivana - Don Jr, 48; Ivanka, 44, and 42-year-old Eric - were significantly older. That, in fact, is said to be the reason Tiffany gets along best with her youngest brother Barron, 20, the only son of First Lady Melania.

Tiffany, named rather unromantically after one of her father's favorite real estate deals (he secured the air rights above the Tiffany store, allowing him to build Trump Tower overshadowing it), was only four when Trump and Maples separated. She grew up in California, 3,000 miles from her New York-based siblings.

Then there was the fact that, unlike them, she was not at all involved in the family firm.

Tiffany attended Viewpoint School in the Kardashian-heavy enclave of Calabasas, then returned east to study at her father's alma mater, University of Pennsylvania - following in her older sister's footsteps. Ivanka graduated in 2004; Tiffany in 2016.

Tiffany then went on to study at Georgetown Law, and, when asked by George Stephanopoulos in October of that year whether she was thinking of joining the family firm, she said it was an option.

'Of course, I'm interested,' she said in her only real interview, seated beside her father and stepmother and her three adult siblings. Barron Trump was ten at the time.

'I'm applying to law school though, so I like to bring a different kind of skill set to the company,' she added.

In the years after law school, Tiffany kept a low profile, with little sign of how she actually spent her time.

While the glamorous Ivanka was in Washington, championing paid family leave and courting controversy for her product endorsements and husband's investment firm, Tiffany was, apart from a handful of campaign appearances, largely in the shadows.

Well, almost. She spent swathes of the summer of 2018 with Lindsay Lohan on the Greek party island of Mykonos, and it is there she met her now-husband, Texas-born Lebanese entrepreneur Michael Boulos.

Raised in the Nigerian city of Lagos, where his father Massad was CEO of a trucking and engineering conglomerate, Boulos studied business and finance at university in London before getting involved in the family firm, Boulos Enterprises.

In January 2019, Lohan, who for a summer owned a beach club on Mykonos, told People magazine that she 'wasn't there when they met,' but added: 'I know him, and I know her, but I don't know what happened.'

A few months later Boulos, four years Tiffany's junior, was by her side in Palm Beach when the Trump family attended an Easter service at their local church, and he has been a constant presence ever since.

In the final days of Trump's first presidency, Boulos got down on one knee in the White House grounds to ask Tiffany to marry him, and the pair tied the knot in November 2022. Their son Alexander Trump Boulos, who they refer to online as ATB, was born in May 2025.

According to Lara Trump: 'Tiffany has thoroughly enjoyed married life and motherhood and she's embracing both in the most beautiful way. It's been such a joy to watch her grow her young family.'

Her husband Eric, Tiffany's brother, added: 'We all adore Tiffany. She is an amazing young woman and a great mother. She is loved by everyone in the family.'

The arrival of Alexander appeared to bring particular joy to his grandmother, Marla, who lives nearby in Palm Beach and dotes on her only grandson.

Maples posts a steady stream of photos of her grandson to her Instagram, showing the pair splashing around in a swimming pool or playing in a garden.

On April 12 she shared a sweet image of the little boy in her arms on a beach, clutching a little twig.

'Oh, did I ever run, skip and jump to grab this little one into my arms again… the longest I've ever been away from Alexander since the moment he was born,' she wrote. Such omnipresence might seem a bit off-putting to some, but to Marla it is all: 'Pure Light.'

'From the very beginning, we've been hugging trees and loving the Earth's gifts together and look at how proud he is holding this little piece of a tree. My heart is so full!' she wrote. 'I am beyond grateful every moment of every day for this sweetest Grand Love.'

Even his maternal grandfather, not known for being the most hands-on parent, seemed besotted.

Alexander was pictured gurgling on Trump's lap at Mar-a-Lago in November, and crawling across the Cabinet Room table inside the White House.

Tiffany's husband has, however, provided a complication - in particular through his father.

Massad was appointed by Trump to be a special advisor for Africa, supposedly drawing on his decades of experience living in Nigeria.

One international diplomat told the Daily Mail that the older Boulos was playing an interesting role in shining a light on forgotten corners of the conflict and drawing thorny problems to the president's desk.

Others have expressed alarm at his blunders and skirting of State Department protocol.

Steve Witkoff, Eric Trump, Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump and Michael Boulos listen to President Trump speak during a news conference on April 6, 2026

In April 2025, he made clumsy statements about the delicate situation in Western Sahara - a decades-long conflict that pits Algerian-backed separatists against the territory's Moroccan rulers – which angered the Moroccans, and jeopardized efforts to normalize Morocco's relations with Israel.

Massad called into question, in the Al Arabiya interview, Washington's position backing Morocco's sovereignty over the region, which was a pillar of the agreement signed between Morocco and Israel in 2020.

He was forced to rapidly clarify his words in a statement posted on social media.

Several months later, according to the New York Times, White House officials learned that Tiffany's father-in-law was seeking an audience with the king of Morocco. Alarmed American officials, the paper reported, 'privately told the Moroccans to decline the request.'

In July, he was in Libya, meeting energy executives and political officials.

At the same time his son and daughter-in-law were cruising the French Riviera on one world's largest superyachts, which was owned by a major broker of Libyan oil - a situation that raised eyebrows back in Washington DC.

A spokesman for the couple said at the time it was a 'personal and private vacation.'

It came, however, shortly after reports that Michael Boulos was seeking to carve out his own deals in Africa - perhaps inspired by his brother-in-law, Jared Kushner, who segues profitably between White House work and billion-dollar investment deals.

The former prime minister of Guinea, Lansana Kouyate, told The New York Times in August: 'He is pursuing work,' adding that the younger Boulos was involved in trying to 'put together some investors from the United States and some governments in Africa.'

For now, however, Tiffany appears to have risen above the fray.

On April 13, she was with her father and the rest of the family at a UFC fight in Miami.

Several days earlier, she was at the White House Easter egg roll, with a delighted-looking Alexander in her arms.

The once savvy student who pored over that textbook all those years ago has, it seems, finally reaped the rewards and got to her 'yes.'
