'Nothing has changed': Why whispers are beginning to swirl about Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury, as friends reveal her family are 'less than impressed' with the boxer's latest family no-shows
Olivia Kemp · 2026-05-26 · via News | Mail Online

For most new fathers, the weeks after welcoming a baby are spent at home changing nappies and surviving on little to no sleep.

Which is perhaps why fans were left stunned this week when it came to light that boxer Tommy Fury is preparing to step back in the ring just one day after his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague’s due date.

The heavily pregnant influencer has previously admitted that the aftermath of Tommy’s 2023 Saudi Arabia fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul – mere weeks after the birth of their first child Bambi – left her feeling ‘traumatised’ and that she suffered a breakdown, barely slept and found the experience so overwhelming it still ‘sends shivers’ down her spine.

And now it seems former Love Islander Molly-Mae is facing up to it happening again.

‘How can he do this to her?’ is the question ricocheting across social media about the couple.

But now the Daily Mail can reveal the staggering financial reason why Tommy may feel unable to turn down another major bout – even with his fiancée about to give birth.

Company filings for Tommy Fury TNT Limited reveal the astonishing scale of the boxer’s financial transformation following the Jake Paul showdown, with assets rocketing from £361,767 in 2023 to a staggering £9.49million the following year.

Companies House accounts also show the company’s capital and reserves soared from £137,362 to more than £6.1million over the same period.

It was later reported that Fury took in an eye-watering £16,429 a day through his boxing career and endorsement deals in the wake of the fight.

Indeed, the extraordinary sums now attached to so-called crossover boxing - bouts between contestants with different professional disciplines - appear to explain why Fury, 27, is once again willing to risk a public backlash by fighting so close to such a huge family milestone.

Particularly after the emotional fallout from the first time around.

‘For an opportunity worth 30 years’ of income, yes it’s worth it, and it’s not like he missed the actual birth [in 2023],’ one source says. ‘People don’t realise how insane boxing money is now and how notoriously difficult it is to get these fights confirmed.’

The soon-to-be father of two is set to face Eddie Hall at Manchester’s AO Arena on June 13, the day after Molly-Mae is due to give birth.

The revelation came after Molly-Mae inadvertently appeared to disclose the timeline in a baby scan she shared online earlier this year.

The image showed her in February at 24 weeks and six days pregnant, allowing followers to calculate the June due date.

Almost immediately, alarm spread among fans who vividly remembered the chaos surrounding the birth of daughter Bambi in 2023.

At the time, Molly-Mae was induced so Fury could attend the birth before travelling overseas for a training camp and to attend to media duties linked to his Saudi Arabia fight with Paul.

The clash had become one of the most hyped events in modern boxing following years of online taunts, cancelled fights and accusations that Fury was ‘too scared’ to face the American influencer.

The pressure surrounding it was enormous. But so too, ultimately, was the payday.

Fury defeated Paul after a split decision and his company’s filings suggest the fight ushered in a hugely lucrative new chapter for the boxer.

Yet Molly-Mae later revealed she was left navigating the brutal realities of first-time motherhood largely alone.

‘The first four weeks of Bambi’s life, I really did do it by myself, and I was home alone with her,’ she said. ‘It sounds dramatic, and it sounds intense, but I guess I do have a little bit of trauma from the first few weeks.’

‘Traumatised is a really strong word, but I am slightly,’ she added. ‘When I look back at the first few weeks of when she came home, it sends shivers down my spine. I had no idea what I was doing.’

Aged just 23 at the time, she described the period as like ‘hell and back’ and said the day that Tommy finally returned home was ‘almost better than the day Bambi was born’.

Which is, perhaps, why the timing of Tommy’s latest fight has triggered such intense scrutiny online.

‘It’s unforgivable that both times Tommy has made himself unavailable for the newborn trenches and left Molly to deal on her own,’ one source says. ‘They’re not skint. It’s not like a regular couple where the man might not have much choice but to work.’

The scrutiny comes after Molly-Mae and Fury spent months fighting to repair their relationship following their shock split in 2024.

The couple, who met on Love Island in 2019 and quickly became one of the franchise’s biggest success stories, called off their engagement before reconciling last year.

Fury later admitted his heavy drinking had contributed to the breakdown of the relationship.

And yet, publicly at least, Molly-Mae appears determined to insist history will not repeat itself.

Addressing mounting concern in a recent YouTube Q&A, the influencer told fans: ‘I’m not worried, and I’m actually really, really happy that he’s got a fight because it’s been over a year since his last fight.

‘So just having a date for something and having a focus, and us having like, I don’t know, something to look forward to in the fight, like it’s just I think it’s actually a really, really, really positive thing.

‘He will be here when I get home. He will be able to support me.’

Privately, however, there are whispers that not everybody around Molly-Mae is quite so convinced.

Insiders claim some members of her closest circle feel that ‘nothing has changed’ since the difficult weeks following Bambi’s birth, with sister Zoe in particular said to remain unimpressed by Fury’s latest decision after stepping in to support Molly-Mae during those chaotic first weeks of motherhood.

And Fury’s absence from his niece Venezuela’s lavish wedding earlier this month did little to quieten speculation.

While Bambi played a starring role as one of the 18 bridesmaids, guests were quick to notice that Fury was nowhere to be seen in the sprawling family photographs – despite being the half-brother of father-of-the-bride Tyson Fury, 37.

Instead, Molly-Mae arrived alone on a reported £15,000 private jet from Manchester, heavily pregnant, with toddler Bambi in tow and battling torrential rain.

Almost immediately, social media filled with praise for the influencer’s ‘superwoman’ efforts – alongside fresh questions over why Fury was once again missing major family 'moments'.

In February, the couple announced they were expecting their second child together

Tommy's decision to step back into the ring just one day after his fiancée's due date has caused controversy

Sources close to the family publicly insisted the boxer was tied up with training camp commitments.

However, the Daily Mail revealed on Saturday that tensions within the Fury family may also have played a role, with insiders pointing to an ongoing rift involving Tommy’s father John Fury and Tyson.

The clue, say friends, lies in the fact that his father John was also absent.

They claim that Tommy is the ‘golden boy’ of the family and that his dad ‘dotes’ on him while John, 61, and Tyson have a ‘much more fractious relationship’.

Just weeks ago, John told the Daily Mail that he and his eldest son no longer speak about boxing, the sport he introduced Tyson to when he was just ten-years-old.

‘Whenever there is a Fury family fallout it’s always John and Tommy against Tyson,’ a source told the Daily Mail’s Katie Hind. ‘Tommy would never go against his dad - ever. He respects everything he tells him.’

The source added: ‘Things are very different with Tyson though. He and his father are always falling out and they really do argue, hammer and tong.

‘Even when Tommy and Tyson have argued John always sticks up for Tommy which only adds to their family feud. As the baby of the family he gets special treatment from his dad while Tyson at the moment isn’t speaking to him.’

Indeed, those familiar with Molly-Mae say that she is something of a peace maker and would love nothing more than for Tommy and Tyson to have a closer relationship.

For many fans, however, Tommy’s latest fight date remains difficult to understand.

But the extraordinary sums now promised over the upcoming match perhaps help explain the real reason for the decision.
