Police have raided the Gold Coast beachfront apartment of prominent surgeon Dr Reza Adib, the long‑term partner of former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, as part of an ongoing investigation.
About half a dozen officers, including forensic police, descended on the Norfolk building at Burleigh on Thursday afternoon, executing a search of Dr Adib’s million‑dollar unit.
7NEWS reported that police removed items from the apartment, with officers at one point seen searching inside a barbecue on the balcony.
Video and photographs from the scene show police moving through the property for several hours before the operation wrapped up later in the afternoon.
Dr Adib, a Brisbane‑based surgeon, has not been charged, and police have not disclosed the nature of the investigation.
Officers have confirmed only that items were seized during the search.
It is understood Palaszczuk is not believed to be involved in the investigation and may not even be aware the raids took place.
The couple have been dating for more than two years with Dr Adib a well-known surgeon, CEO of Brisbane Obesity Clinic and owner of a $6.25million mansion.

He purchased the five-bedroom, five-bathroom half-acre estate in Indooroopilly in December 2010.
Palaszczuk, 52, went public with her relationship on September 3, 2021, ending months of speculation the pair were dating.
The premier, who was steering her state through the Covid pandemic when she first confirmed the relationship, described Dr Adib as a 'gorgeous man'.
The couple were first spotted together at the Caloundra Cup at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on July 11, 2021 and endured multiple scandals during Palaszczuk's tumultuous time in office before the premier announced her resignation on Sunday.
Palaszczuk had been highly secretive about her personal life which she said was almost non-existent because of her busy schedule as premier.
'It's simply not true that we all need a partner to be fulfilled,' she said in 2019
'It's lovely when it's the right person of course, but it is very possible to be single and very happy.'
She was first spotted with Dr Adib at the Caloundra Cup at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on July 11, 2021 and her chief of staff initially dismissed rumours of a romance.

However, in August 2021 she unveiled a glamorous makeover during one of her daily Covid press conferences, raising speculation there had been other changes in her private life.
She finally confirmed that she was committed to Dr Adib to the Courier Mail early in the following month.
'He is a very warm and caring, intelligent man with a great sense of humour, and we are just enjoying getting to know each other,' the premier said at the time.
'We make time when we can to see each other, it’s not easy, but when we do see each other we like to go out to dinner and go on long walks, and what has been nice for me is that he also makes me take a break from work every now and again.'
In 2022 the couple were often spotted together with Palaszczuk facing a wave of backlash from critics.
She was accused of being out of touch for her frequent red carpet appearances with Dr Adib, including at Baz Luhrmann's Elvis premiere and the 2022 Logie awards.
The premier also had to apologise after inviting him to a private meeting with senior members of the International Olympic Committee in May, 2022.
The premier was slammed again when she cancelled a cabinet meeting to spend time with Dr Abid on a luxury yacht instead in the same year.

In August 2023, the pair took an official holiday to Italy, with the tranquil vacation interrupted by paparazzi who tracked the pair down in Naples.
Dr Adib, a general and laparoscopic surgeon, began his career at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1994 and established the Brisbane Obesity Clinic in 2004.
Brisbane Obesity Clinic's website boasts Dr Adib has performed more than 20,000 operations and more than over 5000 weight-loss procedures.
Thursday's raid comes as Palaszczuk is in the middle of a high‑profile publicity tour promoting her newly released memoir, The Politics of Being Me.
She is also due to host another book launch event on the Gold Coast on Thursday night.
