A moonlit jet ski ride around Manhattan took a devastating turn after a horror crash left a young mother dead.
Zielissa Vargas, 26, was killed in a jet ski collision on Saturday night around 10pm, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department said.
Vargas was on a jet ski with a 26-year-old man. They collided with Yeisson Reyes-Rodriguez, 27, and a 28-year-old woman.
Vargas had sustained serious injuries from the crash and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Harlem, where she was later pronounced dead.
Reyes-Rodriguez was taken into custody just before midnight for driving while intoxicated, operation of a vessel while under the influence of alcohol and driving while ability impaired.
The following day, prosecutors tacked on charges of manslaughter and vehicular manslaughter.
Charging documents revealed that the group had allegedly been drinking on Randall's Island during the Fish Fry music festival.
A breathalyzer test found that Reyes-Rodriguez had a blood-alcohol content of 0.141, prosecutors alleged. The legal limit is 0.08.

He told investigators that he had three drinks on Randall's Island and crashed into Vargas' jet ski because he did not see them in the dark.
Vargas was described by her mother to the New York Daily News as a 'good and kind person.'
Her brother, Uziel Vargas, 35, added, 'She was a beautiful, charismatic woman who brought light wherever she went. It's very hard. Very hard.'
'She was a young mother full of life. She enjoyed being with friends and family. She passed too soon.'
Vargas' brother-in-law, Joshua Nunez, 28, said that her friends who were with her when she died have not offered their condolences.
The family said that Vargas was born in the Dominican Republic before immigrating to the US.
She had a 1-year-old son and worked as a bus attendant and at a day care center for children.
Her brother told the New York Daily News that they had not identified her as of Monday evening.

Reyes-Rodriguez was booked into the Eric M Taylor Center on Rikers Island. He was released on a $25,000 bail on Monday, according to jail records.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and is expected to return to court in New York on Friday morning.
Reyes-Rodriguez is a resident of Passaic, New Jersey, which is about a half-hour drive outside of New York. He has had previous arrests in New Jersey.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Reyes-Rodriguez's attorney and Vargas' family for additional comment.
