Historic lesbian bar forced to cancel Pride event after n...

A historic New York City lesbian bar is canceling the 'majority' of its famous Pride events due to noise complaints from its posh neighbors.

Ginger's Bar, the oldest lesbian bar in Brooklyn, is located in the lavish neighborhood of Park Slope, known for its gorgeous brownstones and woke politics.

The establishment puts on a variety of LGBTQ-friendly events throughout the year, including its annual Pride month celebrations, which attract massive crowds.

However this year, Ginger's announced it will no longer be hosting its annual Pride month DJ events due to complaints from its ritzy neighbors, sparking outrage among its fans.

'Due to ongoing noise concerns in the neighborhood, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the majority of our DJ events during Pride this year,' a statement on Instagram read.

'As much as we love turning up the music and creating space for queer joy, we also want to remain respectful of the neighborhood we have called home for the past 26 years, and our space that has been a neighborhood bar for over 100 years.'

Instead, the bar encouraged patrons to participate in other Pride month events and be on the lookout for its upcoming calendar.

'With plenty of other events to look forward to, including our annual Brooklyn Pride celebration on June 13th, we’re confident vibes will be as high as ever,' the bar's owners wrote.

The decision outraged Ginger's supporters, who blasted the disgruntled residents of Park Slope where the median price of a home is $1.5 million according to Zillow.

'It’s almost like people forget they live in a city since every tech douche that’s moved in really just wants to live in their suburban hometown while calling it a city,' one person wrote on Facebook.

'These transplants are really making this city bland and dull,' wrote another.

A third person added: 'NYC is loud. Screw the transplant complaints.'

Others questioned if the noise complaints were targeted at Ginger's because it is a lesbian bar.

'Fifth Ave in Park Slope is chock full of bars who turn up their music at night. Why is this the only one that seems to be singled out is the bigger question? Calling a spade a spade. This seems like a coordinated effort to me,' one person wrote.

A second person added: 'This feels homophobic.'

'People who choose to live above or next to a bar or club - you're going to hear noise. If you want peace and quiet don't live near a bar or club. This is common sense,' wrote a third.

Some people came to the neighbor's defense, insisting Ginger's could play the music at a lower volume.

'Just play the music at a comfortable volume, no need to blast it like you're at a concert, especially if you have neighbors around, just saying,' one person wrote.

The Daily Mail contacted Ginger's Bar for comment.
