A father and bareknuckle boxer has died after being restrained by passengers on a Jet2 flight to Manchester Airport.

Callum Kerr, in his 30s, reportedly became increasingly disruptive on a five-hour flight from Larnaca, Cyprus, on Sunday.

He had allegedly drunk heavily before boarding and began arguing with his girlfriend before cabin crew moved her to another seat.

Witnesses said Mr Kerr began pacing the aisle, banging on overhead lockers and shouting at passengers before 'headbutting' another traveller.

He was restrained by passengers after 'panicked' air hostesses asked for help.

Photos shared online show police rushing to the back of the plane just moments after it landed at Manchester Airport about 2.25am on Monday.

Officers immediately began performing CPR on Mr Kerr after realising he was not breathing and later called for a defibrillator.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and later died, his heartbroken family members told the Manchester Evening News

Many shared tributes for the boxing enthusiast online.

'I thought I was dreaming when I seen someone write it last night.. goodnight God bless Cal,' one person said.

'Gunna miss that cheeky grin of his,' a second wrote.

'Can't believe I'm writing this RIP Callum Kerr wtf,' a third shared.

A fourth commented: 'God bless mate we'll catch up again.'

A Jet2 passenger who wished to remain anonymous was sitting with his partner and daughter when the incident unfolded mid-flight.

'There was a lot of panic, you don't know what people might attempt to do on an airplane,' he said.

'By the time we were flying over Germany, some guy locked eyes with him, and the man walking up and down the aisle headbutted him.

Officers began performing CPR on Mr Kerr and later called for a defibrillator

'He got restrained, and the air hostess was panicking.

'She asked if any big lads could help, as they couldn't keep him down.

'Around three or four passengers were pinning him down.

'We landed at Manchester, it went silent, he had been shouting for the whole flight, and then he was silent.'

Passengers were asked to remain on the plane for at least an hour after landing and to provide statements to police.

'My daughter was with us; she was getting panicked and upset by it all,' the anonymous passenger said.

'There were a few panicked children on the plane, too, and the air hostesses were crying.'

Greater Manchester Police previously confirmed a man in his 30s had been taken to hospital after becoming 'critically ill'.

A spokesperson said: 'An investigation is underway after a man became critically ill following reports that the same individual had been aggressive and disruptive towards a passenger and crew members on a flight heading into Manchester Airport.

Jet2 confirmed that a 'priority landing' was requested due to a disruptive passenger incident

'At around 2.25am we were called to reports of an assault that had taken place on a flight from Larnaca, Cyprus.

'Officers attended and located a man who had been restrained. The man - in his 30s - was taken to hospital due to his condition.'

The Daily Mail has contacted police for further comment.

A Jet2 spokesperson previously said: 'We can confirm that flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester requested a priority landing (Monday 22nd June), due to a disruptive passenger incident.

'We can confirm that a passenger has been taken to hospital. As an investigation is underway, it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment at this time.'
