When Porsche-loving £300k-a-year IT consultant Christopher Trybus's life was on the line as he stood trial for driving his wife to her suicide, there was one person who stood by him... his second wife
2026-04-26 · via News | Mail Online

With Chris Trybus's life on the line, accused of having caused the death of his wife through a sickening campaign of abuse, there was one woman in particular to whom he looked to save him – and it wasn't his KC barrister.

Because, incredibly, while the case put together by two different police forces was mounting against him and he potentially faced years in jail, the wealthy IT expert had married again – to a woman who would become his staunchest supporter.

The Porsche-driving, £300,000-a-year IT consultant was this week dramatically cleared of all charges in relation to his first wife Tarryn Baird – manslaughter, coercive behaviour and two counts of rape.

Now the Daily Mail can reveal how Trybus, while trying to clear his name, was also meeting, wooing and finally marrying a second, glamorous blonde single mother, Beata Wheelhouse.

And while his eminent lawyer, Katy Thorne KC, was defending him in the dock, it was his new bride who mounted a robust defence out of it.

This is the extraordinary story of how divorcee Beata Wheelhouse (née Hefczyc), 39, offered unwavering support throughout his criminal probe – never doubting his innocence before it was finally confirmed by a jury.

Mr Trybus is thought to have met the Polish mother-of-two and begun dating her in early 2020, soon after her divorce from the father of her two young children.

At the time she was living as a single parent in his adopted home, Swindon.

During Chris Trybus's trial for driving his wife to commit suicide there was one woman who accompanied him to court almost every day – his second wife Beata Wheelhouse

It emerged during the case that the man cleared of pushing his first this week dramatically cleared of all charges in relation to his first wife Tarryn Baird  that he had married again

Ms Baird was 34 years old when she took her own life in November 2017. Her husband had been on trial accused of her manslaughter but was found not guilty of all charges

Her Facebook charted their relationship as it developed.

In early 2020, she posted about her divorce from first husband: 'Finally! The papers came through. I'm free!'

And four months later she posted pictures of Trybus with her and her children, saying: 'My World!

❤️

We love you Chris x.'

In the years that followed, her cheerful posts also featured them attending Reading Festival, boating on The Solent and taking her children around tourist sights like Buckingham Palace and London's Chinatown.

They also enjoyed a city break in Barcelona, a family trip to South Africa and a jaunt to her native Poland.

Another post showed them kissing and is captioned: 'With you every moment is a fairytale' with heart emojis.

Another again touted his qualities as a step father and says: 'love you to the moon and back.'

They got a dog, a spaniel, which they named Snoopy.

All this culminated in their marriage, in August 2024. She shared pictures of the ceremony which she described as the 'best day ever'.

She also posted a Father's Day tribute to her second husband calling him 'the best stepdad around' – and similarly pledged her love on Valentine's Day.

Even during the trial, her upbeat social media posts showed her and her husband visiting Winchester's famous cathedral during breaks from the hearing at the town's Crown Court.

But it was only as the trial was about to begin that she pivoted from supporting him privately to defending him publicly.

Posting as 'Bea Trybus, Chris's wife' on a specially created website on the eve of the trial, she wrote: 'Christopher Trybus has been falsely accused of serious offences. As his family, we are devastated but we are determined to fight for the truth.'

She went on: 'Chris is innocent and deserves a fair and unbiased hearing.

'In cases involving allegations such as these, men often face a deep societal presumption of guilt, a prejudice that overshadows the principle of fairness and due process.'

Mrs Trybus stated that he had been 'falsely accused' and that the couple were 'devastated' but 'determined to fight for the truth', in her a statement issued as the eight week of trial opened in February.

And she cited her husband's 'quiet kindness and integrity' and praised him as a 'loving husband and stepfather' to her two children.

She added: 'Those who know him described him as kind, hardworking, and deeply devoted to his family.

'He has found himself in an unimaginable situation following the tragic passing of his wife.

'In the midst of grieving, Chris has also had to face false accusations that have turned his world upside down.'

Mr Trybus is thought to have met the Polish mother-of-two and begun dating her in early 2020, soon after her divorce from the father of her two young children

The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony and shared their photos on social media

For every day of the case, despite not featuring as a witness, she would become recognisable to all as Trybus's closest supporter.

The second Mrs Trybus did not miss a single day of the long and arduous case, in which her husband was accused of being responsible for Tarryn Baird's suicide because of 'a tsunami of abuse' – with his defence based on her having framed him by storing up false records, some of which were made while he was proved to have been overseas.

Always dressed smartly in either a trouser suit or a sombre skirt and jacket, she accompanied Trybus to court every morning.

Once up the courtroom steps she would either head to the public gallery to listen to the evidence or just as often peel off, choosing not to listen to much of the evidence but simply to wait.

Instead, on these occasions, she would patiently wait outside Court 4, where her husband's fate was being decided.

During each lunch break, the couple would leave the court buildings and wander down to the centre of the historic Wessex town to buy sandwiches at one of the many cafes on the pedestrian High Street.

They would then return to the court and sit together until the proceeding restarted.

Sometimes they shared a public kiss.

Then, at the end of each day's hearing, the couple would descend the court steps together, drive home, and then return the next day.

In a further post, she described Trybus as 'a husband, a stepfather [who has touched] countless lives with his quiet kindness and integrity', adding: 'That's the man we know. That's the man we're standing by.'

He was finally cleared of all counts on Wednesday – after an agonising 40 hour of jury deliberations.

Outside court, Trybus hugged Bea, with both of them in tears.

After her faith was vindicated by his acquittal, Bea Trybus later issued a further statement again thanking those who had believed in him.

She said: 'Seeing Chris go through this ordeal has been heartbreaking. He is the most wonderful person I have ever known, my best friend and I am incredibly proud to be his wife.

'Listening to the accusations throughout this process felt surreal. They were deeply upsetting and difficult to comprehend. I am grateful that the jury was able to see the truth and reach the right verdict.

Beata was a single mother from Swindon when she met the £300,000-year IT consultant

At the conclusion of the trial, Mr Trybus told reporters: 'I want to thank my wife…for unwavering support.' They have shared photos of holidays and music festivals together

'This has been the most difficult chapter of our lives, and the impact will stay with us for a very long time. We are extremely grateful for the love and support we have received from our family, friends, and everyone who stood by us.'

The person who had supported him most staunchly was the top of his list to thank in turn.

Mr Trybus told reporters: 'I want to thank my wife…for unwavering support.

'This has had a profound impact on my life and those closest to me.

'Right now, my focus is on moving forward and rebuilding my life with my family.'
