A woman in Connecticut has been arrested for murder nearly a decade after her alleged newborn baby was found in a dumpster.
Dominique Harrison, 28, is facing murder charges in connection with the body of a newborn baby boy discovered in a dumpster in 2018.
Harrison appeared in court on Monday for her arraignment after she was arrested last week, as prosecutors accused her of abandoning her baby, who was still alive, after giving birth.
'Your honor, the case before you paints a picture of a level of depravity that is nearly inconceivable,' Deputy Assistant State's Attorney Mary Caitlin Harding said on Monday, Fox 61 reported.
'The facts allege she put that newborn baby son alive in a dumpster in a remote area so that no one could save that baby's life.'
It was not clear why it took so long to charge the mother with the horrific crime.

As Harrison entered the court room, members of the victim's family left in tears, the outlet reported.
According to Harding, law enforcement discovered evidence that led them to Harrison who then allegedly admitted to the crime after multiple rounds of questioning.
'She gave interviews after arrest that are leading to additional investigations as well,' the deputy assistant state's attorney said, the outlet reported.
Prosecutors argued for Harrison to remain in custody on a high bond, while he defense attorney, Ryan McGuigan, disputed their characterization that she poses a danger to society.
'The state may paint her as a threat to society, but I don't think that's the case. I don't believe that's the case,' he said. 'She had been active in the community and has been able to maintain full-time employment.'

Harrison is being held on a $2.5 million bond and is set to appear in court on July 31
Officials have yet to reveal how the newborn passed away and have not clarified why it took eight years to arrest Harrison.
The prosecution, however, assured that the 'facts all will point to the fact that this defendant murdered her newborn child,' according to the outlet.
