Convicted paedophile pop star Gary Glitter may face new sexual assault charges against a young girl after an alleged victim contacted the police.

Glitter, 82, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been questioned in jail over alleged attacks in the late 1970s and early 1980s against a woman who was under the age of 14, police said.

He is said to have committed two indecent assaults and an assault at a property in Kensington, London.

Now a probe into the serial sex offender and former rockstar, who uses a wheelchair and is almost completely deaf, could see him facing trial again.

Glitter is being held on a Vulnerable Prisoner Unit at HMP Channings Wood, a category C prison, and his current term is set to end in February 2031 when he is 87 years old.

But the possibility of new sexual assault charges made against Glitter, could see him locked up in jail for the rest of his life.

Specialist detectives have spoken to the disgraced singer but he has denied the allegations, a source told the Sun.

The insider said: 'Astonishingly, he's moaned that he's been "stitched up".

'But he knows how serious this is and what it could mean for him. He's very down and fears never tasting freedom again.

'He is pretty much on his last legs in jail and this could finish him off. But his alleged victim wants justice before he dies.'

Glitter was first jailed in 1999 for possessing thousands of indecent images of child abuse victims.

After fleeing abroad, Glitter was expelled from Cambodia in 2002 amid reports of sex crime allegations.

He was convicted of sexually abusing two girls aged ten and 11 in Vietnam in March 2006 and spent two and a half years in jail.

Glitter was then locked up again for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980.

He was refused parole in 2024 and 2025 after a ruling found he still had an 'uncontrolled interest' in children. 

In the early 1970s, Gary Glitter exploded into the limelight after releasing singles including Do You Wanna Touch Me, I'm the Leader of the Gang and Rock and Roll.

The latter was Glitter's breakout song, becoming one of the biggest hits of 1972 as it peaked at number two in the UK charts and made it into the top ten in the US.

He spent much of the following year dominating the top ten, with singles I Didn't Know I Loved You (Till I Saw You Rock and Roll), Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah), and Hello Hello, I'm Back Again, all charting, according to a biography.

Glitter achieved his first number one as 'Glittermania' peaked in the summer of 1973 with the release of I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am).

He then hit the top spot again in the autumn with I Love You Love Me Love.

By the time Glitter appeared on the charts in 1984 with Another Rock and Roll Christmas and Dance Me Up, Glitter was playing more than 80 shows a year.

Glitter no longer owns the master rights to his songs - meaning he no longer receives any royalties from his music.

In 2019, his song Rock and Roll Part 2 featured in hit movie Joker, but rights holders insisted he would not receive any earnings.

The Metropolitan Police were approached for comment.
