This is the moment a pub bouncer kills a 25-year-old father with one punch in an entirely random attack after a night out.

Dylan Maxwell, 28, repeatedly hit Luke Thompson, knocking him to the ground twice during the altercation in the early hours of November 19, 2023. 

The young father suffered fatal injuries - a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain - and died in hospital ten days later. 

Mr Thompson's grieving family has now made the brave decision to release the footage showing the 25-year-old's final moments in a bid to warn others. 

In the short clip, Mr Thompson can be seen facing off with Maxwell on a road before the drug-dealing bouncer suddenly punches him. 

Shortly after, the 25-year-old stumbles back on his feet when Maxwell returns. Mr Thompson shoves him backwards before the bouncer pursues him down the street.

Then, Maxwell launches another fatal blow, which leaves the young father of two lying on Front Street in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. 

The drug-dealing bouncer had gotten a taxi and asked the driver to stop on Front Street so he could speak with a woman he had previously been with at the club. 

And as the woman got into the vehicle, Mr Thompson approached the scene and the 'street-level dealer' launched the fatal attack.

A taxi driver said Mr Thompson had threatened to hit Maxwell after the pair had a verbal exchange, Leeds Crown Court previously heard. 

After launching the attack on the father-of-two, Maxwell left him on the dual carriageway, where he was run over by a car. 

He was left with a broken leg and pelvic injuries; however, it was determined that they did not contribute to his death. 

The father of two was expecting his third child at the time, who was born just weeks after on Christmas Day. 

Mr Thompson's heartbroken family hope the footage can serve as a stark warning to others about how quickly a single act of violence can turn deadly. 

'We have given permission to show people out there that one punch can kill, hoping it doesn't happen to anyone else's family,' his sister Denise said. 

'Yeah, it's not nice to watch, but it's putting it out there, you don't have to have a brawl for five or ten minutes, it could take a matter of seconds to kill someone.'

It comes as Maxwell was sentenced to 13 years and ten months behind bars after being found guilty of manslaughter. 

When sentencing Maxwell, Judge Robin Mars said Maxwell's decision to leave the father to be run over demonstrated 'the malice of the attack'. 

The court heard Maxwell fled the scene in a taxi, using a false name, but was arrested and later charged in May 2025. 

'Luke Thompson was no threat to you at any stage,' the judge told the court. 

'You had struck and knocked him down and made whatever misguided or arrogant point you wanted to make.'

In a victim impact statement, Mr Thompson's mother, Michelle, said the family 'live with the pain of losing him every day'. 

'We live with the pain of losing him every day. It is a scar in our lives that will never leave. 

'The impact of losing him is something that has affected the whole family differently.'

'Some are suffering from mental health [issues] [sic]. This is something that has been going on since losing Luke, and I think it will continue long into the future.' 

She added: 'Luke never got the chance to meet his son, that chance was taken away from him.'

'Three children will now grow up not knowing their dad. No sentence will ever take away the pain we have suffered over the past three years.'

Maxwell was under investigation for dealing drugs at the time of the incident. His home had been searched in December 2021, and £1,610 in cash was found. 

'Unusually high street quality' cocaine with a street value of £1,400, cannabis worth around £1,380 as well as 13 mobile phones were discovered in the search. 

A knuckle duster, three knives and steroids were also found by police officers at the time.  

Maxwell, who stored the substances in a house he shared with his children, was described by the judge as a 'street-level dealer'. 

He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply cannabis and two counts of possessing steroids - a Class C drug.

Maxwell was sentenced to 11 years for manslaughter. He was also ordered to serve an additional two years and 10 months behind bars for his drug offences.

Following the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of West Yorkshire Police said: 'My thoughts remain with Luke Thompson's friends and loved ones. 

'I hope today's sentence provides some small comfort to them as they move forward with their lives following their devastating loss.

'This is a tragic case that shows just how quickly a night out can turn into tragedy. 

'Too often we see situations escalate through alcohol, frustration or split-second decisions, with devastating consequences for everyone involved.

'At a busy time of year for nightlife, I would urge people to take a moment, walk away from confrontation and think about the lasting impact of their actions. No argument is worth a life.'
