Children under age 16 will be banned from social media, Sir Keir Starmer said today in what he described as a 'big moment for our country'.
The Prime Minister announced the restriction at Downing Street as he warned social media was having an impact on children's happiness and mental health.
Sir Keir said he would not compromise on the 'safety and happiness of our children'.
He said he was confident the ban can be effective but accepted some children would find their way around it. The measure is expected to come into force by early 2027.
Now have your say in the Daily Mail's latest poll – do you agree with the ban?
In the last poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Is Keir Starmer 'unable' to defend Britain, as John Healey claims?' Out of more than 11,000 votes, 96 per cent of you said 'yes' and 4 per cent said 'no'.
