Andy Burnham looks set to appoint 'Red Ed' Miliband as his new Chancellor following his 'coronation' as the new Prime Minister in the coming weeks.
Senior business figures have expressed concerns over briefings Miliband could be the next occupant of No.11, even joining with some Burnham-backing Labour MPs to warn that the Energy Secretary would wreak havoc if he was put in charge of the economy.
Mr Miliband has been criticised for pushing the Net Zero agenda, and it is feared he could increase taxes to fund it.
Mr Burnham is expected to set out his plans for growth and a promise to keep Rachel Reeves' fiscal rules next week, in a speech he hopes will reassure the markets after he caused alarm last year by saying Britain should not be 'in hock' to bond traders.
But there are concerns if Mr Miliband is made Chancellor he could push Britain towards borrowing billions of pounds to fund projects which would mark a move to the left.
Now Daily Mail readers can have their say in the latest poll on whether Ed Miliband should be the UK's next Chancellor.
In the last poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Is it right for Andy Burnham to become the next Prime Minister without a contest?' Out of more than 2,000 votes, 89 per cent of you said 'no' and 11 per cent said 'yes'.
