Malcolm Offord has tried to downplay the glamour of his six boats, saying his ‘biggest yacht’ has no toilet, forcing those onboard to ‘bucket and chuck it’.
Reform UK’s leader in Scotland said his 52-foot racer Braveheart also lacked any beds or a galley for its 15-member crew.
The Greenock-born financier made the comments as he trolled Scottish Greens co-leader Ross Greer on social media in a row about tax and wealth.
Lord Offord startled fellow party leaders in Tuesday’s STV debate by volunteering he had ‘six houses, five cars and six boats’ and had paid £45million in tax over 40 years.
He then asked Mr Greer if he wanted more or fewer people like him in Scotland.
The left-winger replied: ‘Fewer people like you.’
Lord Offord, who made his fortune in private equity deals, later said he was trying to prompt a national debate about the need for more wealth creation in Scotland.
On Wednesday, Mr Greer said he wanted to ‘shoot the tax rate up’ on people with multiple homes and collect a ‘pretty hefty sum‘ for public services.
He also told the Herald: ‘A yacht tax is definitely not off the table now that it turns out there are some people are hoarding yachts just as much as they’re hoarding houses.’

Responding to the attack on X, Lord Offord posted a picture of himself sailing Braveheart and wrote: ‘Come on board for a sail first Mr Greer, so you know what you’re taxing. Here’s my biggest yacht. No beds or galley, so bring that wetsuit you’re fond of wearing. Not even a loo, so be prepared to “bucket and chuck it”!’
Braveheart is due to race at the Poole Regatta next month.
Asked if Mr Greer would be joining Lord Offord onboard, a Scottish Greens spokesman said: ‘Ross has received many kind offers from supporters across the country during this campaign. Lord Offord’s invitation to join him defecating into a bucket at sea is one he simply won’t have time to accommodate.’
Campaigning in Edinburgh, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar sided with Lord Offord over Mr Greer on Scotland needing more millionaires.
He said: ‘I want to see wealth creation in this country, but I want to see that wealth fairly distributed.
‘My beef with Malcolm Offord is on his values and what he pretends to represent.
‘This guy wants to pretend he’s great champion of working class communities - his politics have been disastrous for working class communities and for Scotland for decades, and that’s why he deserves to be rejected.’
On a visit to Castlemilk in Glasgow, Lord Offord said he wanted all frontline police officers armed with Tasers to tackle ‘real public disorder’ on the streets.
He said: ‘We will always support firm but fair policing – restoring order where it has broken down and making clear that the rule of law stands for everyone in every part of the country.’
Glasgow candidate Thomas Kerr claimed the city had ‘become lawless with a rapid rise in rapes and sexual assaults’ under the SNP and that ‘mass illegal migration is pushing Glasgow to breaking point and anarchy’.
