A mother, grandmother and four young children have been identified as victims who were found dead in an upstate New York home.
Sarah Myers, 44, her mother Amy Steadman, 64, and her four young children Harper Harmon, 13, Hudson Harmon, 11, Gavin Harmon, 10, and Gracelynn Harmon, 10, were found dead on Tuesday in the town of Mechanicville.
Police said the bodies were found by officers who were called to their apartment complex for a welfare check, after their loved ones said they had not heard from the family for some time.
It is unclear how long the young family had been dead in the home, but a neighbor told local outlets that they had not heard from the mother in two weeks.
While authorities have not offered any details regarding their manner of death, it is unclear whether they will be probing a chilling message previously posted by the grandmother.
Steadman's Facebook profile shows that in 2022, she shared a GoFundMe for her daughter to 'help get a domestic violence lawyer.'
The fundraiser, which has since been deleted, showed Myers with her children in matching outfits as they pleaded for support. 'Please help my daughter and grandchildren,' Steadman captioned her post at the time.
Police have assured residents that there is no further threat to the public, but with few details released about how the tragedy unfolded, locals say they have been left stunned by the family's deaths.

The horror was discovered at an apartment complex in Mechanicville, around 20 miles from Albany in upstate New York, on Tuesday
A resident in the apartment complex, Megan Reed, 38, told local media that Steadman lived in a separate home in the same apartment building, and was often seen with her daughter around the area.
She said the grandmother was 'with (Myers) every single day to help her'.
'Those kids don't deserve this,' Reed added.
Another neighbor told Times Union that the grandmother and mother were 'inseparable', and were 'like best friends.'
Authorities said the investigation into the family's deaths is ongoing, and a medical examiner will determine their cause of death.
Mechanicville Police Chief William Rabbitt said Wednesday that the deaths were being investigated as a criminal probe, but officers have found no evidence of involvement of any additional people.
'There is no known threat to the public,' Rabbitt said.

Locals said Steadman lived in her own apartment in the same building as Myers and her children, and said she was 'with (Myers) every single day to help her'
While authorities have not elaborated on the family's situation, Steadman's Facebook profile shows that in 2022, she shared a GoFundMe for her daughter to 'help get a domestic violence lawyer'
Police said they found the horrific scene when called for a welfare check
'This is a tragic incident that has deeply affected our community,' Rabbitt said Wednesday.
'Our thoughts are with the family members, friends and all those impacted by this loss.'
Locals said the deaths came in the last days of the Mechanicville High School year, and on Wednesday morning several students in red caps and gowns were reportedly seen at the scene and kneeling.
Mechanicville Central School District Superintendent G. Michael Apostol said the district was providing counseling for its high school students to deal with the tragedy.
