The One Where Arsenal Got Beat! Friends icon David Schwim...
Charlotte Dean, Geraint Llewellyn · 2026-05-31 · via News | Mail Online

David Schwimmer was among the star-studded crowd watching on as Arsenal lost to  Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest.

The Friends star, 59, who has previously revealed that the Gunners are his British side, was in good company alongside the likes of David Beckham and Mick Jagger.

Lifelong Arsenal fan Mick, 82, was stood beside a more demure looking David, who was seen laughing at Mick's wild celebrations as his team took an early lead.

However, Mick's joy was short lived as PSG equalised with a successful penalty from Ousmane Dembele, before ultimately losing the game during a penalty shootout.

After winning the Premier League last weekend and partying to celebrate securing their first title in 22 years, Arsenal faced off against the French team for the title.

But it wasn't meant to be on the night as the title was won by PSG, who retained the trophy after a tense 1–1 draw.

After neither side could find a winner in extra time, PSG prevailed in the shootout to secure back-to-back European titles.

While working in London in the mid-2000s, David said that a friend who was a big Arsenal supporter took him to a match.

He joked that he had 'better say I'm an Arsenal fan' because his co-stars were also Arsenal supporters.

Since then, he has occasionally appeared on lists of celebrity Arsenal fans.

At the start of the game, British icons Mick and David were seen in a box together, with the Rolling Stones rocker fully immersed in the game as he got excited about their initial 1-0 advantage.

Mick was enjoying quality time with his son Deveraux, nine, as they watched their beloved Arsenal fight for European glory.

A far cry from typical football supporting attire, Mick looked stylish in the stands in a blue suede blazer, which he layered over a crisp white shirt.

Meanwhile nine-year-old Deveraux, who Mick shares with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 37, proudly wore an Arsenal top.

Sitting beside him, David looked equally suave for the occasion in a navy suit, white shirt and tie.

Mick grew up in Dartford and became interested in football while living in and around London during his youth.

Despite not being from north London, he developed an affinity for Arsenal and has been identified as a supporter for decades.

Over the years, the singer has been regularly spotted at Arsenal matches, both at the old Highbury and at Emirates Stadium.

His support is widely acknowledged by Arsenal fan communities and football publications, which routinely include him in lists of famous Arsenal supporters alongside figures such as Idris Elba, Lewis Hamilton, and Daniel Kaluuya.

David also shared an Instagram post with the Friends star, writing: 'Another brilliant final… and in great company… thank you for joining me on Beckham & Friends Live'

Sir Mick also featured in one of the snaps from David's carousel

Meanwhile, David's support was likely for PSG after played for them during the second half of the 2012–13 season. He signed a five-month contract with the club on 31 January 2013 and stayed until retiring from professional football in May 2013.

During his short spell in Paris, he made 14 appearances and helped PSG win the 2012–13 Ligue 1 title.

While David is not an Arsenal man himself, his son Romeo is a known supporter of the team and is thought to have trained with their youth team.

David has joked that he couldn't understand how his son ended up supporting Arsenal despite his own Manchester United background. He has said the switch happened after Romeo met Wenger and Arsenal players.

Unsurprisingly, Romeo was also in attendance at the match with his girlfriend Kim Turnbull in matching football shirts.

Last week after Arsenal took the Premier League title David had revealed that Romeo had ensured to rub in his team's success with a FaceTime call.

Ahead of the Champions League kick off, The Killers headlined the opening ceremony with a short, high-energy pre-match set built around their biggest stadium-friendly hits.

UEFA chose them partly because their catalogue has become deeply associated with football crowds, especially in the UK, where songs like Mr Brightside, Human, and When You Were Young are regular stadium singalongs.
