Keen political observers were shocked to see the daughter of one of Barack Obama's most prominent Wall Street allies take center stage at Donald Trump's White House UFC spectacle this weekend. 

Pop-country singer Caroline Jones' performance on Trump's birthday sparked whispers there had been something of a fallout between her and her father, hedge fund billionaire Paul Tudor Jones, who is friends with the Obamas. 

According to reports, the appearance was made all the more offensive given that one a UFC fighter made a crass joke about Michelle Obama being 'a man' during his post-fight interview. 

But, whether to save face publicly or otherwise, those closest to the famous family have exclusively told the Daily Mail that rumors of a family rift are false and nothing more than gossip.

Caroline's husband, professional sailor Nick Dana, dismissed the rumors of a rift outright. 

'It's fabricated. The whole thing is fabricated,' Dana said during a brief phone interview. 

A longtime friend of the Jones family was equally dismissive, insisting there was no bad blood.

'It doesn't make sense. There is no way that this could be a cause for concern,' the source told the Daily Mail.

'I can't understand how people have got nothing better to do than waste their time on this kind of gossip.'

The denials came after Page Six reported that members of the Jones family had been 'freaking out' following Caroline's appearance at Trump's Freedom 250 event on the White House South Lawn earlier this month.

According to the New York Post's gossip column, unnamed sources claimed the performance had placed the Jones family in an awkward position because of its longstanding friendship with Barack and Michelle Obama.

Caroline, 35, sang the Star-Spangled Banner as a member of the Zac Brown Band before the opening bout of the UFC card, which was staged at the White House on June 14.

The event formed part of celebrations marking America's 250th anniversary and also coincided with Trump's 80th birthday, drawing fighters, celebrities and political allies to Washington.

Controversy erupted later in the evening when heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit grabbed the microphone after his victory and made a provocative remark about former First Lady Michelle Obama.

'Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?' Hokit shouted to the crowd.

The comment quickly drew criticism and, according to Page Six, became the issue troubling members of the Jones family because of their close relationship with the Obamas.

One source told the outlet there had been 'a bit of a family freaking out' as relatives discussed how to respond.

'The family is trying to figure out how to navigate this, especially the Michelle slur,' the source was quoted as saying.

The same source claimed Caroline had been asked to 'be quiet about it and not post' on social media after the event.

Another source quoted by Page Six disputed suggestions of a full-blown family crisis, insisting there had simply been 'concern' rather than panic.

Representatives for Paul Tudor Jones, Caroline Jones and the Obamas did not respond to the Daily Mail's requests for comment.

Those familiar with the family, however, strongly disputed the suggestion that Caroline's appearance had damaged one of the Joneses' closest political friendships.

Paul Tudor Jones, founder of Tudor Investment Corporation and one of America's best-known hedge fund managers, has enjoyed a relationship with Barack Obama stretching back nearly two decades.

The investor and philanthropist was among Obama's most prominent Wall Street supporters during his 2008 presidential campaign, hosting a major fundraiser at his Connecticut estate attended by around 500 guests, including fellow Democratic mega-donor George Soros.

Jones later backed Republican Mitt Romney with a $200,000 donation in the 2012 election and donated $2,100 to Rudy Giuliani in 2007. His wife, Sonia Jones, remained a committed Obama supporter. 

She attended a $40,000-per-person fundraiser hosted by actress Sarah Jessica Parker at her New York City home during Obama's re-election campaign.

Jones also joined Obama and other leading Wall Street executives at the White House in 2011 for discussions about the US economy during the aftermath of the financial crisis.

The Jones and Obama families have vacationed together over the years as their relationship grew personal. 

Caroline Jones has built her own successful career as a country singer-songwriter before joining the Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist.

Caroline herself has maintained a relatively neutral political tone with her music despite her genre's typical righter-leaning fandom. 

The band's decision to perform at Trump's White House celebration also prompted criticism from some observers unhappy to see established musicians participate in an event hosted by the Republican president.

Frontman Zac Brown defended the appearance, insisting it was about 'patriotism, not politics.'

Brown said the band accepted the invitation to honor America and members of the armed forces, rather than to endorse Trump or his political agenda.

The White House celebration came as several entertainers reportedly declined invitations to participate in Trump-related America 250 events amid concerns over the country's increasingly polarized political climate.

Morris Day, Young MC, Martina McBride, The Commodores, and Bret Michaels were listed on a lineup but later announced that they would not be making appearances.
