Five people have been arrested in connection to riots and looting across the central Australian community of Alice Springs after the arrest of a young girl's alleged killer.
The arrest of Jefferson Lewis on Thursday night triggered a huge wave of civil unrest in Alice Springs.
The 47-year-old is accused of abducting and murdering the little girl, whose family requested she be referred to as Kumanjayi Little Baby.
Kumanjayi is a substitute used by Warlpiri people for a deceased person to avoid the taboo of speaking their name after death.
Lewis was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by police on Thursday night after being beaten unconscious by a vigilante group when he presented himself at Charles Creek town camp.
His arrival at the hospital saw an angry mob gather and throw stones at the facility while demanding Lewis be brought outside to face traditional Indigenous law.
The situation quickly escalated with police using tear gas to disperse the crowd. Several officers were attacked and one woman was arrested after allegedly setting fire to a patrol car.
New CCTV footage has since emerged from a Shell Reddy Express service station on Bagot St, which showed a flood of looters taking advantage of the chaos.

The CCTV showed one thief broke in when they climbed through a window before they opened the door to a crowd outside the service station, who poured in to steal whatever they could grab.
It's understood at least one other store was robbed and several other fires were lit throughout Alice Springs.
NT Police said the two businesses lost at least $105,000 in stolen goods and sustained $80,000 worth of damage.
Furious officers said this was not an outpouring of grief but people taking advantage, and that they have detained five people and more arrests were likely.
The alleged rioters arrested on Sunday are aged 18, 26, 34, 46 and 49. Charges are expected to follow.
'Further offenders have been identified and multiple arrests are expected to be made in coming days,' NT Police said in a statement.
Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam, is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

'What you will see in this footage is not people processing grief in relation to the death of baby Kumanjayi. What you will not see is people trying to practise traditional law,' he said.
'What you will see is criminal behaviour, plain and simple.
'It's abhorrent, it's disgusting and it will not be tolerated or accepted by the Northern Territory Police and it should not be accepted by community.'
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he understood the 'anger and frustration' at the crimes committed against Kumanjayi Little Baby but urged the Alice Springs community to rally together.
'We must remember that literally hundreds and hundreds of people searched for this young girl before the tragic result,' he said.
'These are communities that are hurting.
'There's meetings there on the ground as we speak right now, bringing together community leaders, the police, the health workers, the people at the hospital.'
Lewis was flown to Darwin on a private government plane about 3.30am on Friday.

He is accused of taking five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby from Old Timer's town camp, south of Alice Springs, on Anzac Day.
Her body was discovered by searchers during the day on Thursday, after analysis found Lewis' DNA on her underwear - which were found earlier in the week.
Lewis was charged with murder, and two other charges that can't be reported for legal reasons, on Saturday morning.
He is expected to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday via audio visual link.
