A group of dine and dashers downed bottles of rosé and then fled a trendy Manchester cocktail bar without paying their £160 bill.

The women, dubbed 'Rosé & the Runners', visited Finders Keepers on New Islington Marina in the Ancoats area of the city, on Saturday April 25. 

After racking up an expensive tab, enjoying multiple bottles of booze in the spring sunshine, the group then promptly left the bar without paying.

Now, one of the members of the Rosé & the Runners has come forward and paid the tab claiming the group 'forgot' to pay.  

In a post on social media yesterday, the owners of the Finders Keepers shared pictures of the alleged dine and dashers urging them to pay their outstanding bill.

The post wrote: 'We'd like to thank Manchester's newest girl group, Rosé & The Runners, who enjoyed a few bottles of Rosé wine with us on this record breaking Saturday without paying.

'If you'd like to come back & pay your £160 bill then we're back open on Wednesday, alternatively get in touch and we can send you a payment link. Next time you fancy a free bar tab perhaps join us for our quiz this Sunday from 7pm. £100 tab to be won!'

And thanks to the power of social media the venue posted a later update revealing the bill had now been paid. 

They said: 'All  hail the power of social media... Rosé & the Runners have been in touch and are paying their bill. Thank you to all of our wonderful guests and followers for your support!' 

Speaking to the Daily Mail, co-owner Amy Harrison said it was a group of four women but one left early and she allegedly thought the other three were paying. It is this woman who has since come forward.

Ms Harrison said: 'They [the dine and dashers] claim they "forgot" but it's quite clear to me that didn't happen. The one lady who left early is the one who came forward.'  

Speaking about the incident before the tab was paid, Ms Harrison spoke about how the ordeal had left a 'sour taste' as they have been trying hard to make a success out of their business. 

She continued: 'Given the glorious weather this weekend and Olivia Dean at Co-op Live, we've had our busiest and best weekend on record. 

'Running around serving drinks in 24 degree heat for 14 hours isn't the easiest job but it's made easier by the amazing guests who visit and support us every day.

'Unfortunately, there are a small percentage of people who ruin that. These ladies had multiple bottles and a few extra glasses of wine and left without paying.

'Given ever increasing operational costs, the government's inability to recognise the much-needed VAT reduction in hospitality, we're proud to be going into our third successful year, however situations like this leave a sour taste.'

Sacha Lord, who served as Greater Manchester's first-ever night-time economy adviser for seven years from 2018 to 2025, responded to Finder Keepers' Instagram post offering help pay the bill back - and offered more money to those who help identify those involved.

He wrote: 'Everyone knows how tough it is in Hospitality right now*how can anyone want to do this to a small independent business. I'll settle that bill mate*plus give a £500 reward to name and shame them.'

Britain is increasingly finding itself in the midst of a dine and dash epidemic with the issue becoming an increasing problem for bars and restaurants up and down the country.

In January, two 'dine and dashers' skipped out on a restaurant bill of £170 after scoffing oysters and downing shots during a boozy lunchtime meal at a Relentless - Steak and Lobster House in Portsmouth, Hampshire. 

Owner Scott Matthews, 39, said the pair came in at lunchtime on January 29, appearing to be electricians, and started their boozy order.

He claimed they 'deliberately outsmarted' a pre-pay system by ordering and paying for £130 worth of food, knowing staff do not ask for payment for supplementary requests until the end of the meal.

But they then proceeded to order several more rounds of alcoholic drinks, shots, oysters, and scallops - adding up to another £170 - which they allegedly did not settle for.

And in October last year, a group of women enjoyed a huge £312 banquet before they fled without paying.

The thieves ran off after racking up an enormous bill - which included steaks, cocktails and 11 Baileys - at Cheers restaurant in Norwich on the evening of October 5. 

The Daily Mail exclusively revealed the expensive receipt which the owner of Cheers, Andrea Marinho, had to pay for out of her earnings for that day.

It included over £130 spent on steaks and a whopping £71.50 on 11 shots of Baileys.

The dine-and-dashers also bought multiple different alcoholic drinks, two starters and finally a dessert.

CCTV shows the women enjoying a hearty meal as they down their drinks with their young children sat beside them. 

And in July 2025, a family of 10 were accused of 'barging their way out' of a popular pub after 'refusing to pay' the £320 food bill.

Kelly Jollife, 49, landlady of the Greyhound Inn in Usk, Wales, said each member of the large group ordered a starter and main course, consumed them fully, but then refused to pay for anything other than their drinks.

Ms Jollife added the family then 'barged past' the pub's chefs and departed in two cars.

In a social media post, she explained: 'Warning to all other restaurants and pubs Shocking thing happened today with us here at the Greyhound.

'After doing 150 fabulous roast dinners today unfortunately one table of 10 decided they were not going to pay their £328.90 bill after eating everything.

'It then got extremely confrontational between them and my team.'
