Five people have been arrested amid a murder probe after an 18-year-old man was stabbed before being left injured outside a hospital. 

The victim is believed to have been stabbed during an incident in Dale Close, in Poole, Dorset, before being bundled into a car.

He was driven about a mile to Poole Hospital before being abandoned outside the main entrance on Longfleet Road, where he was found at 2.13am on Friday.

The victim was rushed inside for emergency treatment but could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said his family have been notified.

Enquiries have traced the victim to the incident in Dale Close, which has now been cordoned off while forensic officers search the crime scene for clues.

A 20-year-old man from Poole and two men from Bournemouth – aged 36 and 38 – have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police have also arrested a 22-year-old man from London and a 22-year-old man from Bletchley in Buckinghamshire on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Forensic officers are continuing to search the area for clues amid a murder investigation after an 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed

Detective Superintendent Neil Third, of Dorset Police, said: 'We have informed the victim's family of these latest developments and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.

'We do not underestimate the concern and upset that an incident of this nature will have in the community.

'We would like to reassure that we have acted quickly in making arrests and progressing our investigation.

'We still need help from the public and would reiterate our appeal for anyone with information – or relevant home CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage – from Dale Close or Longfleet Road around the relevant time to please come forward.

'We are grateful for everyone's support while the cordon is in place and officers are conducting their enquiries, it allows us to carry out a detailed investigation and seek justice for the victim's family.'
