Police are investigating a suspected break-in at the property where two young boys lost their lives in a devastating house fire.
Officers believe the home on Mason Street in Wolverhampton may have been forcibly entered sometime after the blaze, which killed the children, aged one and three. It remains unclear whether anything was taken.
The fire unfolded on Friday evening, prompting a major emergency response at around 8.30pm.
When crews arrived, a woman and two children were already outside the address. All three were assessed by medics at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.
Firefighters then entered the smoke-filled property and brought out two other children, who were given urgent medical care. Despite efforts by paramedics, both boys were pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman in her 30s was arrested over the weekend in connection with the incident but was released on bail the following day as enquiries continue.
