A young athlete was killed and three other teenagers were injured during a car crash in Maryland.
Ryan Duvall, 18, was a passenger in the vehicle when it struck a tree and was killed at the scene on Friday, according to Baltimore County Police.
Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash around 9.45pm ET at the intersection of Poplar Hill and Merrymans Mill roads in Cockeysville, approximately 20 miles outside Baltimore.
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Poplar Hill Road when it 'left the roadway and struck a tree.'
It is unclear what caused the car to go off the road, and police told the Daily Mail the crash remains under investigation.
The driver, and one passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
A second passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported for treatment.
The driver and additional passengers have not been identified because they are minors.

Duvall was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by a medic, police said.
His family confirmed his death in a GoFundMe to raise money for his funeral expenses.
'Our family is devastated by this loss. He was only 18, a son, a beloved uncle, and a light in all of our lives,' his sister, Jamie, wrote in the fundraiser.
Quest Martial Arts Center posted a tribute on Facebook for Duvall, who they said was a long time student.
'It absolutely breaks our hearts to have to tell you that one of our long time students and friends, Ryan Duvall, died in a car accident yesterday,' the center wrote.
'He was only 18 years old. Ryan was a 1st Dan Black Belt and was loved and admired by everyone at Quest! He will be sorely missed!!'
Duvall's martial arts community members commented their condolences on the center's post.
'Ryan was an outstanding human being. He was quiet, kind, respectful, and just an overall wonderful person,' one person wrote.

'The student we always talked about at home and after belt tests because he was just that special.'
'Ryan was always kind, respectful, and just an all‑around wonderful kid. He touched so many lives, and he will be missed by so many,' a third person wrote.
