Once-bustling Nevada vacation resort becomes America's ne...
2026-05-07 · via News | Mail Online

A once-lively Nevada vacation resort and casino complex has turned into America's latest ghost town after shuttering its final hotel.

Primm Valley Resorts, the last standing casino among a trio of gambling halls near the California-Nevada border, informed its employees it is closing in less than two months, according to a termination of lease agreement letter obtained by 8 News Now.

The notice, sent out on Monday by Primadonna Company LLC, informed workers who reside at the nearby Desert Oasis Apartments that they must vacate their rentals by July 6, as Primm Valley Resorts will officially close its doors on July 4.

The Primadonna Company LLC, which is owned by Affinity Gaming, told staff their leases would be terminated and that they are providing a 60 day notice as opposed to 30 days 'as a courtesy,' the letter read.

'We recognize this is an extraordinarily difficult time, and we are deeply grateful for the dedication each of you has brought to the Primm Valley Casino Resorts property, Chantelle Mark, the chief people officer for Affinity Gaming, wrote.

Employees affected by the impending closure will also not have to make any further rent payments, a notice of business closure and employment termination letter obtained by the Daily Mail read.

The company also offered employment support, stating that it would plan a transition for them alongside the State of Nevada Rapid Response Team to start planning government assistance for laid-off workers, the documents read.

It is unclear how many employees are set to be laid off.

The note also told staff that four other properties owned by the Primadonna Company, LLC: Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino, Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino, Primm Center, and Flying J.

Buffalo Bills Resort & Casino switched to an event-only operation in July 2025, and Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino shut down in December 2024.

The Primm Center, a gas station and dining center, and Flying J, a truck stop, both located on Interstate 15, will officially shut down on July 4, one of the letters read.

The termination announcement comes just days after Primm Valley Casino Resorts took to Facebook with videos and images showcasing its gambling floors.

'This weekend at Primm Valley Casino and Buffalo Bills Casino was packed with excitement and big wins—our guests are enjoying thrilling jackpots and unforgettable moments,' one post read.

On April 26, the casino shared a similar message, stating: 'Jackpots are hitting nonstop at Primm Valley Casino! Another guest just scored a massive $10,598 grand jackpot on the Dragon Link slot machine. It’s been a winning weekend, and we’re open 24/7 to keep the excitement going.'

Affinity Gaming turned Buffalo Bill's from a 24-hour gambling operation to a location only open on days when its concert venue, the Star of the Desert Arena, hosts events.

The Primm casino complex was once recognized as a popular, less expensive gambling resort option than ritzy Las Vegas.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, which halted tourism in Sin City's gambling world, Primm's casinos started to sink.

Additionally, casinos have popped up in other parts of the US, including in California and New York, creating competition.

In September, renderings of a possible $3 billion complex showed what wealthy developers have planned for Coney Island.

Once known as America's largest amusement park, the now less-popular area, could see a major upgrade in the future.

The renderings showed an argyle-patterned casino and hotel skyscrapers beside the town's famous Nathan's hotdog stand, Cyclone rollercoaster, and Wonder Wheel.

Despite the proposal, residents have claimed that if a casino took over, it would dwarf the area's bustling boardwalk and effectively replace their centuries-old beachside community with another 'soulless' casino.

At the same time, human casino dealers in Las Vegas are being pushed out of the industry and replaced with electronic gaming systems.

In October of last year, the Golden Gate Casino officially transitioned to an all-virtual gaming floor in a bid to keep up with the times and appear to tourists, the Gen-Z population, and locals.

The new marketing strategy, known as 'The Night Starts Here', first made its way into Sin City's oldest casino during the Covid-19 pandemic, but according to owner Derek Stevens, it hasn't really gotten attention until now.

The move is just one of the latest attempts by industry insiders to revive dying Las Vegas, which has been struggling to pull in visitors in recent years.

When contacted by the Daily Mail for comment, Affinity Gaming sent over the termination letter that was sent to employees.
