JK Rowling has poked fun at Nicola Sturgeon and Peter Murrell after his financial plundering was exposed.
The Harry Potter author cracked jokes about motorhomes and expensive kitchen utensils during online exchanges with fans.
The 60-year-old said she would never buy a £2,500 pepper grinder and made tongue-in-cheek references to her husband having a part-time job to finance the purchase of motorhomes.
Rowling and Sturgeon have a history of clashes with the writer once modelling a T-shirt that said: ‘Nicola Sturgeon, destroyer of women’s rights’.
But the multi-millionaire issued a volley of jibes following Murrell’s admissions of embezzling more than £400,000 from the SNP.
The former SNP chief executive, 61, admitted using the money to buy luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars and a motorhome and low-cost items such as chopsticks and hand cream.

Lalique salt and pepper grinders priced at £2,618.16 were bought in January 2020 by Murrell
Writing on X, Rowling responded to one user who said ‘I’m a poor excuse for a husband. Only got our salt and pepper thingys from KTMaxx (sic), £5.99’.
She said: ‘Ours are from John Lewis and very nice they are too.’
Another user asked: ‘You’re proper rich. Would you spend £2.5k on a sh**e pepper grinder?’
Ms Rowling said: ‘Definitely not. Nor do I have a designer bread bin, as Murrell and Sturgeon apparently enjoyed. On the other hand, I have a musical advent calendar, because I have an ineradicable love of kitsch.’
She later added: ‘Every other day a new motorhome appears in my mother-in-law’s drive and Neil hands me another bucket full of jewellery and cosmetics.
‘I can only assume he’s got himself a part-time job I’m too busy to ask about.’
