A teenager has died after the buggy he was riding in crashed into a kangaroo.
Adam Varone, 19, was travelling with three friends on a property on Ferguson Road in Beermullah, north of Perth, when the vehicle struck the animal at 7.30pm on Saturday.
The Aquinas College graduate was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital but later died from his injuries.
The driver of the ATV was not injured.
School principal Jen Knox shared the news with the school community on Tuesday, The West Australian reported.
'It is with deep sadness that I share the news that Aquinas College Class of 2024 student Adam Varone passed away yesterday following a tragic all-terrain vehicle accident over the weekend,' she wrote.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with Adam's mother Nikki, father Frank, sister Leah, girlfriend Tatjana, extended family, classmates, friends and all members of the Aquinas community who knew and cared for him.
Ms Knox said many had paid their respects to Mr Varone and his family at Mass.

'The large attendance was a reflection of the love, care and support that surrounds Adam and those closest to him during this profoundly difficult time,' she said.
'At times such as these, we are reminded of the strength of the Aquinas community and the brotherhood that exists among our students.
'In the compassion they show one another, the prayers they offer, and the kindness they extend, we see our values lived out in a powerful way.
Mr Varone's family said they would donate his organs, a decision Ms Knox said would 'offer hope and life to others amidst unimaginable grief'.
'While words can provide little comfort at a time like this, Adam's final gift will leave a lasting legacy through the lives he will help save,' she said.
Heartbroken friends have taken to social media to share their condolences.
'Love you man, not gonna feel the same without your contagious happiness,' one said.
'Going to be a very different world,' a second said.

Mr Varone's death comes after his friend and former classmate Nick Campo was killed when the Toyota HiLux he was in crashed in North Lake in July 2024.
The 17-year-old driver was jailed.
