'Please explain': Woman who fell sick after eating a RAW ...

By BURNEY WONG and MATT JONES, SENIOR NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA

A woman has launched a scathing rant after she took a closer look at her McDonald's burger and discovered it was raw.

Carla Dolby demanded an explanation from the fast food giant after she was reduced to a diet of plain toast and Hydralyte following the ordeal.

'Maccas, please explain, what is this?' she asked in a TikTok video, while holding the remainders of the undercooked burger.

'I know it's my fault for not looking when I was eating it, but I was so hungry.

'I was eating away, looked down and noticed it wasn't cooked. I think you should just trust that your food is cooked if you're purchasing from a fast food restaurant.

'My insides are literally still ruined, I've had to call in sick, I've had to cancel my plans on the weekend. I'm feeling so lethargic, but lesson learned.'

Ms Dolby lodged a complaint with McDonald's and was told the fast food giant would launch an investigation, which could take up to 10 business days.

'We will engage the restaurant management team to commence an investigation,' the fast food giant said in the response.

Carla Dolby shared her recent experience on TikTok, asking McDonald's for an explanation after she bought a raw burger

'Our restaurant teams will complete an in-depth review, which may include reviewing CCTV, as well as records from other customers during the time of this visit.

'Please know that this may take up to 10 working days, and you will be contacted by the store upon completion of this process.'

Aussies were quick to share their own fast food horror stories.

'I got a sundae from Maccas last year, got about halfway and realised my spoon was tapping something metal. Turns out it was the top of the handle for the sundae sauces,' one person wrote.

'I had a milk carton lid in my Maccas coffee,' another said.

But others stuck up for employees at the chain, suggesting they were new.

'Respect the workers, their jobs are stressful enough with training and learning new stuff is hard,' they said.

One person who claimed to be a McDonald's manager also chimed in.

'We take food safety complaints very seriously. More than likely someone will be fired. I hope it gets resolved,' they said.

'Genuinely, as a manager at Macca's, this makes me so annoyed. It's not hard to check if the grills are working and it's also not hard to check if the meat isn't cooked.

'I'm assuming it might've been a newly trained employee or someone who wasn't paying attention.'

The Daily Mail has contacted McDonald's for comment.
