A pilot who was critically injured in a helicopter crash has died.
Emergency services were called to the incident off Tumbar Rd near Blackall, in western Queensland, about 9.30am on Monday and the pilot was rushed to hospital.
Queensland Police confirmed about 4.30pm that the pilot had died from their injuries.
Workplace Health and Safety and Queensland Police are investigating the crash alongside the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
The Robinson R22 helicopter was seen rapidly descending shortly before it hit terrain at Pretty Plains Station.
It is understood the 42-year-old pilot was the only person on board.
Investigators from Brisbane who specialise in aircraft operations and engineering will assist the investigation, the Courier Mail reported.
That will include aircraft examination, site mapping and the recovery of debris from the crash.

Further examination will be complete at the ATSB's technical facilities in Canberra.
Investigators will also interview witnesses and other people involved in the running of the helicopter.
