Passengers on a Celebrity Cruises vacation have gotten incredibly creative during their time at sea in hopes of saving coveted pool deck recliners. 

One guest on board the Celebrity Beyond ship on May 12 snapped a picture of a fellow passenger's seat-saving tactic and shared it in a Facebook group. 

'To the person on the Beyond who level-ed up "chair-hogging," nice,' read the post created by Karen Mitchell. 

The unidentified culprit cleverly sneaked a mannequin head and torso on board the ship.

After laying the mannequin down, the passenger covered it with a towel, sunglasses and a hat and drew on a convincing mustache. 

From a distance, it appeared as though the lounger was occupied by a sleeping passenger. 

With roughly 3,260 guests aboard the ship, according to Cruise Hive, lounge chairs can be few and far between. 

Whoever set up the clever stunt likely managed to get away with it, at least for a while, before their trick was exposed. 

Even fellow cruisers in the Facebook group were fooled by the mannequin's disguise.

'I saw this when I was doing a reservation on Specialty,' wrote one commenter. 'I thought it was a real human.' 

'Who left this 45-year-old with no arms just lying there,' another joked. 

'I just looked at the photo and said to myself, "that baby has a mustache,"' a third mused. 

'I thought it was a kid,' a fourth wrote. 'I guess mannequins need vacation too.' 

Others took the gag seriously and criticized the passenger for hogging a chair by such off-putting means. 

'I realize it's meant to be a joke, but it might not be funny if my young grandchild saw it,' one commenter criticized. 'She might be sad thinking he has no limbs. It's creepy.'

'Throw it in the trash and sit down,' another advised. 

'Chair hogging is unacceptable,' a commenter added. 'No policing enforcement. Countless chairs with towels or other items to "save." It's BS.'

'Greedy, self-centered people are aggravating no matter how cute or funny they try to be,' a fourth said.

Chair hogging is a major point of contention among Celebrity Cruisers. 

The cruise line prohibits people from reserving deck chairs using towels, clothes, bags or other items. 

According to company policy, crew members are permitted to remove abandoned items from lounge chairs after they are left unattended for more than 30 minutes. 

Many people were just impressed that this 'cruiser' managed to board the ship without raising any alarms. 

'Ok, but can you imagine the reaction of the people running the X-ray scanners on the luggage that was in,'  a commenter said. 

While a half mannequin is an unconventional item to bring aboard a cruise ship, so far, it is not listed among the prohibited items of the cruise line. 

According to their website, only dangerous stowaways such as weapons, drones, drugs and flammable liquids and explosives must be left at home.

Celebrity Cruises is an upscale cruise experience owned by the Royal Caribbean Group. 

The Beyond, the ship on which this viral gag took place, debuted in 2022 and operates year-round. It is home to multiple pools surrounded by hundreds of deck chairs.

While it's unclear where this stunt took place, the Beyond was on a seven-night itinerary between the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Port Miami when the seat-saving Facebook picture was posted Tuesday.
