Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is being sentenced today after he confessed to murdering eight women during his reign of terror on Long Island.
The 62-year-old architect is facing life behind bars after he pleaded guilty to the murders of Sandra Costilla, 28, Valerie Mack, 24, Jessica Taylor, 20, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, Melissa Barthelemy, 24, Megan Waterman, 22, and Amber Costello, 27, in April.
He also admitted to the 1996 murder of an eighth victim, Karen Vergata, 34, for which he has never been charged.
Heuermann has been permitted to wear plain clothes as he listens to the family members of his victims address the court in Riverhead, New York, at 9.30am ET.

He has been housed in the Suffolk County Jail since his arrest in July 2023, but will serve out his term in a state prison to be determined later.

In a stunning twist, he also admitted to the 1996 murder of an eighth victim, Karen Vergata, 34, for which he has never been charged.
Family members of his victims are expected to address the court before a judge in Riverhead, New York, hands down his sentence.
Heuermann will have the opportunity to speak, but it is unclear whether he will.
