Former foreign minister Julie Bishop has announced she will resign as Chancellor of the Australian National University.
Bishop has been the target of sustained criticism during her six-year tenure, which began in January 2020 and was due to end in December.
She is understood to have informed the Prime Minister and the university of her decision to resign on Thursday night, effective immediately.
