A top Texas female prosecutor allegedly crashed her Audi into another car and then fled the scene, authorities said.
Jennifer Lowery, a former US Attorney for the Southern District of Texas (SDTX), has been charged with felony failure to stop and render aid after she allegedly hit Gabriel Fonseca in Houston on Thursday.
Fonseca had been driving on Memorial Drive on his way to the park after attending a church service at about 8pm when Lowery allegedly struck his driver's side door, surveillance footage showed.
Lowery's blue Audi appeared to be crossing an intersection when she struck Fonseca. The collision took off her front bumper.
Fonseca was able to move his vehicle to a nearby parking lot and called 911.
'She didn't even check to see if I was dead,' he told ABC 13 Houston. 'It's a selfish and cowardly thing to do, to hit someone and run away without even being concerned.'
The shaken driver was left to fend for himself.
'I couldn't open the door, so I crawled out.'
Lowery fled the scene, with surveillance footage showing she only stayed for around two and a half minutes.

Meanwhile, a witness, Trace Marshall, who was out walking his dog at the time, ran to help Fonseca. Later, while he was completing his walk, he saw Lowery allegedly park her car at her $395,000 home on Sandman Street, court documents said.
Marshall said he saw a blonde woman driving the vehicle, court documents, viewed by the Daily Mail, said.
Police officers later observed the vehicle parked in the driveway, which had significant front-end damage and was leaking fluids.
They were approached by Lowery's attorney husband, Matthew Willis, who allegedly confirmed his wife had been involved in the accident but said she would not be providing a statement, court documents said.
Willis told officers his wife had called him after the crash to tell him what happened. Willis had then traveled to the crash site to observe the crash debris, court documents said.
Lowery was arrested on Monday at her home, according to ABC 13 Houston.
Fonseca was unaware that the woman who hit him was a former top prosecutor until afterward, but he found her profession 'ironic.'
'Her career is holding people accountable,' he told the outlet.

Lowery has worked for SDTX since 2008 and has been with the DOJ since 2000, the agency said.
While with SDTX, she has served as a US attorney for the major offenders and the fraud and organized crime drug enforcement task force sections, the DOJ said.
She currently serves as a senior litigation counsel.
She was initially appointed as Acting US Attorney in February 2021 after Ryan Patrick resigned, the DOJ said.
Prior to her time at the DOJ, she worked as an assistant criminal district attorney for Jefferson County, according to her LinkedIn.
The US Attorney's office declined to comment on her employment status when contacted by the Daily Mail, stating it 'does not provide details about SDTX personnel.'
'I do not have any information to provide as to your inquiry at this time,' spokesperson Angela Dodge said.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Lowery, her attorney, and Fonseca for comment.
